    Metal Festivals in the Summer

    by ...Vaellushalu... » Mon Mar 29, 2010 3:47 pm

    Hey,

I was just curious to see if anyone on this forum was planning on going to any European metal festivals this summer. I'll be going to the following: Hellfest, Graspop, Metalcamp, Magic Circle, Masters of Rock, Wacken, Brutal Assault and Summer Breeze (and maybe Hole in Sky)...
I guess it could be fun to meet some of you before the cruise!

    :givebeer:

If you check out another thread called Metal Festival Reviews (i think), a number of people have mentioned planning to attend some of those.

Wow, have a great and heavy summer! Work for an airline or OWN one I wonder :)
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

I will be at Hole in the Sky 2010. Venom, Triptykon, The Devils Blood and Angel Witch!!!! Sold me right there.

But I went last year and it was a fuckin blast. I have many many friends in Norway. Norway is like my second home. I went to 7 Wacken festivals and it is not as good as it used to be and more commercial trends are popular there now.

    Haha,
yeah I wish I worked for an airline or OWNED one.. That would make everything a lot cheaper, but unfortunately that's not the case...

    @ TOM CRUISE:
Nice. My friend is actually trying to convince me to go there as well but I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it after all the other festivals. Maybe next summer...
And, yes I have to agree that Wacken is pretty commercial but I still love that you get to meet so many people from everywhere. I guess it's more for the gatherings and the drinking rather than the festival itself.

I"m still hoping that one day I'll get to visit some of the metal festivals across Europe.
Work doesn't allow me to have a whole lot of vacation time. This cruise is really my first vacation in over 6 years.
Perhaps in the future I'll have better luck and i'll get to bump into some great people if I go to those festivals.:D

    We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as bright can be.
    We all enjoy our Vegemite
    For breakfast, lunch, and tea.
Our mummies say we're growing stronger
    Every single week,
    Because we love our Vegemite
    We all adore our Vegemite
It puts a rose in every cheek.

2010 is out the question for me, but now I'm starting to think about a Europe trip in 2011. My friend is a festival veteran and is going to Germany in a few weeks (will be his 10th visit), so I'm trying to convince him to do it in 2011 as well. Would be MUCH easier to plan if I went with someone who knows what the hell they are doing.

Crazy good lineup for this event.

For you festival veterans who have to travel: are alot of these at the same time every year? Is there a general rule of thumb as to which group of festivals are all within driving distance & you could do within 1.5 - 2 weeks?

Whenever I make the journey I want to be able to back as many as I could into the trip.

I'm going to go to Metalfest Open Air Hungary in Budapest in May as it's basically just around the corner for me and - of course - Metalcamp is a must. Bit of :headbanger: -Holiday in the summer! Yeah would be cool to meet future cruisers there.

Venom and Triptykon sold me, not sure they will play on the cruise, and Venom never really plays the states.

Hell yeah brother, looking forward to it. Got my airfare, hotel squared away FINALLY, my 2 day club pass for Wed./Thur. and have applied for vip/press pass accredt. for Friday/Saturday.

I cannot wait to go on the Fjord Tour cruise and hike up Floyen mountain again as well as visit the Fantoft church (has been re-built after it was burned down in '92

Not to mention the bands. Venom, Tryptykon, Watain, and The Devil's Blood sold me. Plus I went last year and it was so much fucking fun.....

Woohooooo! Press and photo pass for Metalfest Open Air Hungary just got confirmed.
So if you are there and see a girl with a black t-shirt and a bright red DEMONIC NIGHTS logo on the back come and say 'hi'!

Yeah, lucky me, so far none of the bands I want to see have cancelled, according to the weather forecast it's going to be warm and sunny - so see y'all on Monday! I'm off to :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: and a bit of :shred:
