Last Gig: Death To All with Atheist. Good show, I'm extremely picky about my death metal and still enjoyed it. What I enjoyed more was running into so many forumites :D There were at least 10 of us! Kevin, thank you for the chocolate covered stroopwaffels, they were most excellent

    Upcoming:

    Agalloch 7-31
    Jeff Loomis (maybe) 8-1
    Kataklysm and Fleshgod Apocalypse 9-2
    Kamelot 9-10
    Nightwish and Kamelot 10-14

Last gig(s): Three diverse nights of music in a row this past weekend. :D

Friday...the mighty Ministry at the Vic Theatre in Chicago
    and with the family...
Saturday....Golden Anniversary Choral Spectacular at Millennium Park (celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Grant Park Chorus) - highlight for me were selections from Orff's Carmina Burana - I remember Ravenlord long ago saying on this thread that he saw CB performed at Royal Albert Hall in London. Epic! http://grantparkmusicfestival.com/uploa ... acular.pdf
Sunday...Jake Shimabukuro & a Chamber Orchestra called A Far Cry at Ravinia Park in Highland Park, IL - they performed separately and also together http://www.ravinia.org/ViewDate.aspx?show=506

Next gig(s): Friday night...B-52s and Squeeze at Charter One Pavillion, Northerly Island, Chicago - another "flashback" gig for me since I first saw Squeeze in Paris in the fall of 1982.  Also, my husband and I saw Squeeze and B-52s in 1993 and 1989 respectively. Ha - so, it has been awhile.

Next Wednesday - will take the young daughters and a few of their friends to see Kevin Rudolf at the amusement park Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. They are thrilled so that makes me happy. ;) Like other pop concerts I've taken them to there (Jesse McCartney and Metro Station), I suspect it will be 95% moms and screaming tweeny and teeny-bopper girls. And as strange as this may sound - these kinds of shows are quite the "experience" and I find them very entertaining in an odd way. :P

Next is Mayhem Fest (arriving late, as I have no interest in all the xian metalcore drowning the early bands).

I'm really looking forward to wearing a 70K shirt, especially if they have a cruise booth.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Same here. I thought they had a pretty decent lineup of bands on there.

Next for me will be Iron Maiden & Alice Cooper on July 18.

Apparently ;) I don't consider myself a fan of hers, but I really enjoyed it.
Even a 'new' discovery for me: The Waterboys. I didn't know them, but they sounded like a pleasant mixture of Kansas and Jethro Tull to me. Got to check out some of their stuff.

So that was yesterday... (No Foreigner weren't playing, that was last year)
Next up is Armored Saint on Wednesday, really looking forward to that :headbanger:

I saw them live years ago on a festival, but i don't remember very much about that. But their music is great and I used to love the Anthrax gigs with John Bush, so I have no doubt about that ;)

The two times I've been to BYH have been awesome, enjoy!

Never been there as it always used to be in the same weekend as Graspop, so I'm curious to find out ;)

Last gig: Death Cab for Cutie last night at Taste of Chicago. Fantastic show and it was great to be close this time (14th row) compared to way up in the balcony at the Chicago Theatre this past April. They did my two favorite songs (I Will Possess Your Heart and Soul Meets Body), but all were great including two others in particular, Cath and Grapevine Fires. Ben Gibbard remains one of the best singer/songwriters/lyricists ever in my view. It was nice to go to a show with just my sister too - good times!

Next gig: if I can convince the family :P - Chaka (the Queen of Funk) Khan at Taste of Chicago tomorrow night. Tell me somethin' good, tell me that you like it

If not Chaka - the mighty Agalloch next Friday night. :D

Yea I totally did not make that connection at first when we were in Croatia. I go up for a beer and the dude is like "Coupon!" I kind of stared at him and thought to myself "wtf, coupon? I get discounts on beer?" He pointed to the ticket stand behind me and it all clicked. Coupon does not mean the same thing to me lmao, I call them beer tickets.

Well it works like that on most European festivals actually, it's probably way quicker than having to give everyone change for every drink ordered.

So just came back from Bang Your Head, it was simply amazing :D

Did you happen to see Tobias bust his ass off the stage but still play for another hour after his many injuries?

Really? They will probably be burned out on it by the time they get to Austin in two weeks though don't you think?

haha dont blame you for getting drinks there. According to blabbermouth he fractured his nose and I think a rib or two. Must have been a hell of a fall to witness since he fell into the photographers section  Its not as boring as Accepts guitarist just kind of falling over on stage and cracking a bunch of ribs, even though I know age was a factor there
