Sweet! So, do you travel to those cities for the shows because they don't come closer to Indiana or is it just that the dates and cities correspond with other travel plan? The furthest I've traveled for a gig was from Vancouver to Seattle... well, until January :headbanger:

I live in northern Indiana. In between Chicago and Detroit and Indianapolis. With Chicago being the closest. I just go to whichever show falls on a weekend. Very few shows come to Indiana though, unless it's a touring festival like Mayhem or Ozzfest. I think the last time Maiden came to Indiana was in '95 during X-Factor. I seen them play in a bar with maybe 800 people. Fear Factory opened up. I've been to many other cities and towns for shows but I prefer Chicago overall. People are more friendly there, from my experience anyways.

    Good morning....**yawn***
A friend of mine from the Bay Area,Wayne, just joined the band "IMAGIKA" a few months ago and are (what I like to call) "Mini-touring" the west coast right now.

Im leaving tomorrow and flying to Oakland for our annual reunion of good friends from back in the oldschool days....so needless to say, Wayne won't be able to attend because of the "mini-tour"

Soooo...my friends and I, after work yesterday, drove the almost 2 hours to Prescott, AZ. where they were playing.....A little Irish Pub called " The Drunken Lass" We had alot of fun...the band was good and I atleast got to see Wayne before the reunion.

I also got a good taste of a brand new band called "Conviction" out of Prescott....WOW....it was their first time on stage, but you really couldn't tell, cuz these guys got up there and "owned it!"....The drmmer looked like he was 12 lol....but I tell you what, this guy....if he keeps it up.....will definatley go places in the music industry..he was amazing!!

needless to say I got home about 3 a.m. and here I am at work today....I need a 5-hour energy drink! ugh!

If you take out our intro.. some smoke.. a wicked light show.. some totally awesome openers.. and likely some witty banter.. and then throw in the sweet sound of studio recordings... and press play at 11:15 or so.. there you have it! The closest thing possible haha

2 Hours and 45 minutes of RUSH in Los Angeles tomorrow night. 2:45! That is what I call giving the fans their money's worth. Plus it's my son's (13) first concert.

RUSH!!!!!!!!! More yesssssssssssss! Rush on August 23 for me in Chi-town! I saw a dude in a Rush shirt at Wacken and I just had to say  man!

And on more gig notes....last gig was Wacken and here are the bands I saw:
1349 (overlapped with Slayer/saw half their set), Alice Cooper, Amorphis, Anvil, Caliban, Cannibal Corpse, Corvus Corax, Die Apo. Reiter, Delain, Grave Digger, Il Nino, Immortal, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Kampfar, Lord of the Lost, Mambo Kurt (a really nutty guy who plays every year at the beer garden stage - hilarious!), Motley Crue, Orphaned Land, Overkill, Slayer, Soulfly, Tarja, Tiamat, Tyr, Varg, Wasp (I think that is every band- need to check my personal running order list I made beforehand later!)
:headbanger: :deathmetal: :metalguy: :death: :shred: :viking: :beerhorns:

also saw Norwegian band Ulver (formerly black metal, now ambient/experimental) in Oslo on July 31st which was spectacular

Also...after being away for a couple of weeks, was thrilled to find out about two upcoming shows that I hadn't known about:
Apocalyptica and Dir en Grey in early September (Dir en Grey is one of the greatest bands I have **ever** seen live) and Triptykon, 1349, and Yazuka in a small club here on October 16 :death: :death: :death:

Diablo Swing Orchestra... it was for free, and haven't listened to them never, that's why I went... it was kind of cool though, but they only played for 1 hour so that was kind of shitty...

Before that one I went to see Apocalyptica... way too fucking awesome... they started the gig with Wherever I may roam and after that they just burned the stage... they played for almost 2 hours so it was well spent money...

NEXT will be Lacrimosa on October 13th to celebrate their 20th Anniversary... not sure to post this, but what the Hell, I've read that most of you respect musical tastes...
70000 tons of reasons to get my ass there on 2012!!!

Exodus and Malevolent Creation at the beginning of next month. :death:

Then the Prog Power Fest starts the day after. Want to see Kamelot, Turisas, Tyr, Leaves Eyes, and Hammerfall when I'm there. Should be an awesome show though.

Holy shit.... Death Angel tore shit UP at their show!!!!!! Soooo super stoked to see them on the cruise now!!! :headbanger: Soilwork was good, played all my fave old songs, but just wow at how impressive Death Angel was. Oh and Admiral Nobeard from Swashbuckle has a message for everyone on the boat: "When Obituary comes on, you better move the f*ck out of my way!" Also, they said they don't know anything about that weird 10:30AM playtime listed on their website; unless they're contracted to pretend not to know! Very cool group of guys

Heads up man, Turisas dropped off the show a while back  Blackguard is filling in for them. They're actually a lot of fun live if you've never seen them. Paradox also dropped off, but they're not being replaced. According to the event promoter, we'll need the extra rest during Paradox's former slot for when Marco is kicking our asses that night

Yeah I'm really excited! First time ever for both Delain and Tarot playing in the States. I'm more of a thrash girl, but the lineup this year is excellent. However, I am not so excited about the 8-hour drive to Atlanta :? It'll be worth it though!!!

Yeah, Ill have to drive about 5 hours to get up there for the Malevolent and Exodus show and then Im staying a couple nights so I can go to the Prog Power shows. Should be fun though.

By the way, Is your screen name taken from A Song of Ice and Fire? If so, that is the greatest damn book series ever.

It absolutely is, she's my favorite character :D Viathyn is going to be starting Martin's series soon, but so far you're the first to recognize my screen
name! Martin has just been killing me with how long he's taking with the next book; I think half his fans are afraid he's gonna pull a Robert Jordan and die before he finishes the series :? We had another thread that temporarily derailed into a Dark Tower discussion, hopefully you've read that series as well! As for Progpower, I'm actually renting a car because I don't want to put the mileage on mine. It's a hell of a drive, but I've driven to Key West so I'm figuring it can't POSSIBLY be worse that that haha. Where are you staying for Progpower? We'll be at the Hotel Midtown, but were only going for the main event, not the mid-week mayhem

And actually I have to take it back; I think ZummaZumma recognized the name first! Several Martin fans on the ship it would seem! :D

Yeah, Daenerys was awesome and her plot was bad ass. I know what you mean though, Martin really needs to finish up Dance With Dragons. And hopefully he doesn't pull a Robert Jordan. But Jordan's Wheel of Time series is still one of my all time favorites. And Brandon Sanderson really did him justice with The Gathering Storm.

Alright, sorry, back on track with metal...

I haven't booked a place to stay yet but Ill probably stay at the hotel I stayed at the last time I went to Atlanta. I just cant remember the damn name of it.
