hmmm....hard for me to pick my very favorite songs from any of the three...although I can safely say that Lady by Styx is one of my very favorite love songs ever....and haha - I remember it being the big song at an 8th grade dance I went to. :P

I still have my Styx records from the Wooden Nickle's labels. WOOT!!!!!

“Midnight Blue” was the big song when I was in 8th grade and it was our Frosh Dance Theme. I so old and so embarrassed. LOL

It has to be good: the tickets cost 3 euros! If there's no band at all, the entrance fee is 2 euros.

Last gig Monday: Rammstein (which was spectacular!)

Next gig tonight: Kottonmouth Kings & Twizted

Why am I subjecting myself to this? I'm giving my daughter and her friend a ride to the Kottonmouth Kings. Ugh...think I'll sit upstairs in the bar and drink. :whisky:

It was a great show. Dave's voice isn't what it used to be. He forgot some lyrics & pulled a Vince Neil at times. He is still a great frontman. Overall, the show was a blast. They have mentioned that this will be a 2 year tour for the album. You should hopefully get a chance.

Wish I could check out the Death To All Tour, my last show, in celebration of Chuck's birthday was a Death Tribute show hosted by their old manager and Massacre played a few Death songs as well as a ton of Calgary local bands did covers. I got to chat with Terry Butler, it was awesome. Rozzi was great on stage. One of the bands played Spirit Crusher which just completely rounded it up to a perfect night minus the drama of running into a few people I hadn't seen in a long while.

This week I have two local metal shows to hit up more than anything to support some friends that are playing, one on Wednesday and one on Saturday - should be good times. Also helps give me my metal show fix.

Last show: Rammstein this past sunday!!!!!!!

Next show: might watch my old band play on June 2 (the band i quit in January). it's always very weird to watch a band you used to be in do a show. most bands i've been in ended up breaking up after i left, so good to see my old mates are not throwing in the towel, because they're good guys, i just wasn't down with the ULTRA slow writing pace (2 songs a year?)

oh me, oh my..... :P .....Van Halen and I go back a long time - bought their *first* two albums when they came out...

released February 10, 1978 - my junior year of high school
Image

and

released March 23, 1979 - my senior year of high school
Image

HUGE favorite of mine and my high school friends growing up in the middle-class suburbs of Chicago...we kind of worshipped them actually :P - especially the first album. Along with Ted Nugent, Eddie van Halen was the guitar king to many of us in the late 70s teen crowd :shred: :shred:

Then I saw them for the first and only time on November 5, 1980 in my college (UIUC) town of Champaign/Urbana, Illinois. Huge stadium - one of those gigs I'll never forget.
(this tour - great set-list! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Inva ... ur%22_Tour )

Funny thing is...once the 80s hit....and there was so much new music (goth, punk, new wave, industrial, and so on) that I was exposed to and loved....I drifted away from Van Halen. I'm not sure why really, but they are a band I never felt the desire to see again. I think partly because that particular 1980 performance was so great, I wanted to remember them that way. Fuck!!! That is 32 years ago!

Some bands I like to see again and again from my 70s youth - in particular Rush and Yes. But others like Van Halen and Aerosmith, not so much. Hmmm....Sgt B...your post kinda made me wish I had gone though. ;)

I posted these ticket stubs of mine on the gig history thread long ago...which includes my Van Halen ticket and others (this is just a small selection - I tried to go to every show that came through my university town)...man - those were some great times and I'm happy to say I've been enjoying rock and other concerts now more than 40 years!  :smoking:

Yep - Name that band/artist!! The only ones that tripped some people up are the tickets that say Jeff (Jeff Beck) and Bad (it was Bad Company, but a few other guesses were BIg Audio Dynamite aka BAD and Bad Religion).

I swear to god though - it sure seems like everything old is new again or what goes around comes around sometimes...or something like that. :beerwink:  Hmmm... of those groups I saw in college around 30 or more years ago... I'm seeing Styx & Nugent together (along with REO Speedwagon) the end of June, I saw a Styx/Kansas/Foreigner gig in the summer of 2010, Disco recently posted a great Jethro Tull video from 40 years ago on the Renaissance Musicians thread, last Friday I saw Tom Morello do a great cover of Springsteen's Ghost of Tom Joad song at a rally here during the NATO summit (was never a big Bruce fan - but loved the song Born to Run in high school and that one gig I saw was awesome), and so on.... :P :trashdrink:
