Last gig was Iron Maiden July 30.

I went to the darkside and bought a KISS/Motley Crue ticket for Saturday/tomorrow night. I just HAD to. Going by myself because I got a killer single ticket in the first row of the stands.

Monday - Kataklysm in Vancouver, B.C.
Wednesday - Summer Slaughter w/Cannibal Corpse
Saturday - Sanctuary at Studio 7's 10th Anniversary

I sure hope to hell I live through this week! :bangers:

Fairly dry on the concert front for me and that’s only one of the reasons I went to the Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez show. I was impressed. It was a really good show and J-Lo has a set of Abs that you can bounce a quarter off of and that quarter would land on the other side of the room. Amazing.
May go see In Eternity next Friday at Station 4. I believe they played the 2012 pre-party. (?)

Dead Can Dance sounded fantastic last night. You don't hear voices like those of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry very often, if ever....must get their new disc! gorgeous!

Great to hear you enjoyed it - looking forward to tomorrow's show here - and I agree about Lisa Gerrard in particular! She is such a talented, beautiful, and elegant lady. I was reading up on her over the weekend and found out she and I are just a few weeks apart in age. I'm quite envious of her long and illustrious career!

And for something completely different, just found out about this tour this morning because someone posted about it on the fb Barge group - great! So now I get to see Barney & Co. after all. :D

prepare to be amazed by Brendan Perry's voice as well then, because he has a ridiculous range and power too.

I love his voice as well, but I think Lisa's really shines on the new album in particular - it's just so dreamy & ethereal on the recordings, so I'm interested to finally have the live experience. Found another great picture of her since my previous post...

August has been quite the non-metal month for me. :P On the 4th took the daughters to see pop-star (and former Disney teen star) Demi Lovato at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL. This is not a show I would have gone to if it wasn't for them, but they loved it and sitting in that venue's pavilion made me remember fondly the times my dad took me there to see shows when I was about their age - all "light rock" like Seals and Crofts, America, and (drum-roll... :P ) Barry Manilow. A few days later saw Yes & Procol Harum at the Rosemont Theater - a great venue sound wise. Considering both groups have been around since the 60s - they sounded as great as ever. The replacement for singer Jon Anderson of Yes sounded fantastic - almost better than Jon in his prime if that is possible. And Steve Howe and Chris Squire were amazing as always. Highlight was one of my favorites: Heart of the Sunrise (performing it live here in 1991 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6lfhiUDMIo )

And....last night was Dead Can Dance - at one of my favorite venues ever - Millennium Park. As expected, it was a fantastic, mesmerizing act. Here is a great song from the new album - Kiko http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYNspSb5xIg It is hard to describe how stellar Lisa and Brendan's voices sound live!
And tonight is My Morning Jacket at Millennium Park. This song cracks me up.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlWeO-hm ... ure=fvwrel :beerhorns: (which of course is not a bm song :P )

Yeah, not as many as other places, but we do get our fair share. I am SO stoked for Sunn!!!! I knew they were touring Aus in October with Pelican, but they hadn't announced any NZ dates. But the promoter in NZ responsible for most of the bands coming here (RW Entertainment) said they were "in talks" and it was finally announced yesterday. SO HAPPY! :D :D :D

I'm also planning to go to Wacken and Summer Breeze next year, since they're both only about 2 weeks apart.

Daamn, I had an opportunity to see them as well when they were gonna come here a couple years ago, but then the drummer hurt his wrist or something and it had to be cancelled.

Do you tend to go to Australia for shows if they don't go to NZ? How expensive is it to go? Just curious

I've never gone to Australia for a show, but I would if it was a show i REALLY want to see, and I knew they wouldn't come here. I know a lot of Kiwis do go there for shows. I'm not sure how much it would cost, maybe about NZ$600 return. NZ promoters do keep track of what bands are playing in Australia and contact them to work out deals on coming here. RW Entertainment said there's another band announcement next week Tues so I'm waiting to hear what that will be, and also Soundwave festival in Australia is an opportunity for them to bring some of those bands for sideshows here too.

Also Dead Can Dance said they will be coming here, they are currently on their world tour, i'm also just waiting for those dates to be announced too. Can't wait to see them!

Also just found out right now that Paul Dianno and Blaze Bayley are touring together here in Dec. I missed Paul last time he was here a couple years ago, I've seen Blaze before, though, I was at the filming of their "Alive in Poland" DVD. So I'll definitely go to this show too!

Last gig: My Morning Jacket last night at the outdoor venue Millennium Park - OUTSTANDING!!!  Was not expecting much at all from this gig since I was basically tagging along with the husband, sister & brother-in-law who are fans. I did manage to listen to three cds of theirs several times over the summer to become familiar with their music (Z, Evil Urges, and Circuital) - but I was just ok on most of the songs - nothing super special. But live? Really spectacular! It's weird because I had watched some of their live youtubes, but again wasn't super impressed. But last night was such a beautiful evening, it was a sold-out (11,000) chill  :smoking: crowd, the sound was great, killer light show which coincided with the huge Navy Pier fireworks show off in the distance....there was just a really cool vibe all round. MMJ did some great long jams and there was a lot of the psychedelic throughout which I love. Psychedelic rock is one of the genres they are placed in, as well as roots rock, country rock, southern rock, & indie rock. I would definitely see this band again.

Next gig: If we don't go to the suburbs to see Blue Oyster Cult & Pat Benatar, next show for me will be (thanks to rootleaf giving me a heads up about it!)

Also Dead Can Dance said they will be coming here, they are currently on their world tour, i'm also just waiting for those dates to be announced too. Can't wait to see them!

Glad to hear they're coming there, they were AMAZING when i saw them on Sunday!!!!!!!!

Nice! Yeah, I can't wait. Brendan Perry lived here when he was younger, went to school and started his musical career here, but it'll be the first time they've ever played here together. They said a couple months ago they were going to announce the Australia/NZ tour dates.. "soon". But they're treating it like a UMC announcement, still haven't heard anything.

My brother will be seeing them soon in NYC, he's gone there for some kind of camp run by King Crimson, he'll be jamming with them or something. He's taken his monster new custom made 10 string bass with him.

Judgement Hammer
Headless Pez
Cemetery Lust

Next show, Slaughter by the Water 3: Takes place on a decomissioned aircraft carrier that held a record for most confirmed kills in a single day during WWII. The bands are:

Exodus
Philm (Dave Lombardo's band)
Absu
Autposy
Witchaven
Impaled
Abyssmal Dawn
Fog of War

That's fucking cool! If I didn't have so much going on in my personal life, I would have flown to the bay area for that show!

Last show was Summer Slaughter w/Cannibal Corpse, et al. Tomorrow is Sanctuary at Studio 7 in Seattle.

It's also the 10th Anniversary Party of the Studio 7. Sanctuary and Nevermore practice there, and the owners are very cool people. I even got to play there with my band, so I'm going to support. It's gonna be a huge party with lots and lots of great friends!

Last show: Iron Maiden/Coheed & Cambria last Saturday in Houston, TX
Next show: Into Eternity tonight in St Paul, MN
Future show: Kataklysm/Origin/etc... tomorrow in St Paul, MN

If the Into Eternity show ends early enough, I might try to catch Russian Circles in Minneapolis.

Its your time off that amazes me the most. You seem to always be in a different country at some random fest  Definitely jealous!
