I love anything with kotipelto! But I really like the last 2 albums. I don't think they have lost anything with (that one guy) leaving the band. Mathias has filled in beautifully. They seem to have new life pumped into them. Timo is singing better than ever and Jens is playing better than ever. On the 1st cruise they were the reason I booked passage. And I am happy beyond measure that they are on the 2nd one. By the way. AM I THE FIRST TO HAVE A 70000 TONS OF METAL TATTOO?! As soon as it heals I'll be putting a picture of it up on the forum. So now I guess you know what I'm here to see.

I only have one disc and it is "14 Diamonds" "Best of Stratovarius".
It serves as a good introduction to the band and I am looking forward to seeing them THIS year.

Destiny for me, it was also the first Stratovarius album I heard so that might be why, always have a soft spot for the first stuff I hear from bands I like

Okay, I'm on iTunes now and I've accessed Destiny. Any songs in particular you'd recommend or should I just download the whole CD?

maybe not the best album to start with - but if you don't get the whole album, pick the first two tracks

Have to go with 'Infinite' on this one.

Celestial Dream still remains one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. I can't explain the feelings I get when I hear it, but if there were a such thing as an eargasm, that's what this song does to me.

A Million Light Years Away was one of the first songs I remember learning being able to play guitar and sing along with at the same time, so that's always been an important song in my life.

Infinity is probably their best epic song. Not a huge fan of the vocals on this one, but it's got a very powerful driving force that is a perfect album closer.

There just isn't one "bad" song on this album.

This was a hard one.... only have a couple of their albums... always meant to get more... but I chose Visions because that was the one that got me into them. .... thought the guitar work was so bad ass.... my first thought of them was "wow, these guys are almost as good skillfully as Dream Theater!" Holy Light is a great song!

By the looks of it... lots of the Stratovarius 'experts' like Visions as well.

All i can say is avoid Elements part 2 and their self titled album like the plague and you pretty much can't go wrong.

    +1 for part II
...but the self titles album rocks quite a lot
but it's definitely not a record for everybody
if you can imagine their earlier stuff being transformed into a more modern environment, you can still give it a try

Elements II had 1, maybe 2 decent songs on it (Dreamweaver is the only one I remember). But for the most part, crap. I've never even given the self titled a proper listen it's so awful.
