Anything that isn't metal is strange to Metalwrath, I'm not surprised.

Well not an easy task, as there are so many bands I love. But I would go with this ones:

    1. Pain of Salvation
    2. Porcupine Tree
    3. Skyclad
    4. Lake of Tears
    5. Nevermore
    6. Savatage
    7. Psychotic Waltz
    8. Dream Theater
    9. Metallica
    10. Led Zeppelin

    1. Alice in Chains
    2. Metallica
    3. Megadeth
    4. Pantera
    5. Life of Agony
    6. My Dying Bride
    7. Type O Negative
    8. Opeth
    9. Devin Townsend
    10. Agalloch

Hmm, I'd say the first seven were very important in my "formative" years (the good ol' 90's) of listening to music that actually meant something to me and though I don't listen to them as consistently as I used to they will always be with me. Opeth was pretty important to me in the 2000's. The last 2 are ones that I have got into relatively recently and been playing the hell out of! :deathhorns:

For me, I absolutely disagree with this - while my top 10 may change slightly to incorporate bands at some point in the future that I'm not familiar with yet or don't even exist yet - I am fairly certain that at least 6 or 7 in my list will remain in my top 10 *always* - for example the ones like Yes, Rush, and Zeppelin who I grew up with, *never* tire of, and have special meaning to me....I wager Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Pain of Salvation will stay in my top ten forever as well. :P And when you speak of latest release - I'm considering my top picks in terms of total discography which, in my examples, are all substantial.

To the good old '90's indeed! :beerbang:

I think my order of exposure on Devin Townsend went from getting the later SYL albums and digging them, then getting Ziltoid and loving it, then getting Ocean Machine and really fucking loving it! Then Infinity, Ki, Addicted, Deconstruction & Ghost. I still need to pick up Accelerated Evolution (ordered it today), Terria & Physicist.

But yeah, check out Ocean Machine if you have not!!

I saw SYL open for Testament in '97 and was completely blown away... didn't have much back catalog to catch up on back then

To be honest, I am sure I saw them back in the day too, but I was too enthralled with the headliner to pay attention to them. Wish I could remember when the hell it was...

Th earliest exposure I remember was going to the Century Media Tenth Anniversary show (in 2001?) and seeing them play a few songs...
Have a good time...all the time.

Might be a bit more mainstream than most of these lists but:

    1. Megadeth
    2. Slayer
    3. Mastodon
    4. Moonspell
    5. Paradise Lost
    6. Lamb of God
    7. In Flames
    8. Iron Maiden
    9. Dream Theater
    10. Type O Negative

I have a top 100 band list that's pretty nuts too.

    Iced Earth
    Opeth
    Amorphis
    Testament
    Annihilator
    Pink Floyd
    Savatage
    Queen

    After Forever

Seems like I have to live without half of them already, but fortunately I still have the records.

Neil Diamond would deserve a spot in this list as well, but he's not a band of course :P

Oooooo another good list, can we list solo artists as well? Well mine changes from day to day so for now I would say:

    1. Led Zeppelin
    2. Jethro Tull
    3. Queen
    4. Flogging Molly
    5. Iced Earth
    6. Rammstein
    7. Ensiferum
    8. Marvin Gaye
    9. Primus
    10. Bee Gees

Also, this list isn't in any paticular order.
