Hopefully I wont dork it out too bad here.

I voted for the indie and retro since I actually think a lot of the big budget games are just eye candy. Im not spending 60 bucks for an 8 hour game or the exact same multiplayer experience over and over. Lately I have been playing the shit out of Realm of the Mad God for pc. Its an indie MMO Bullet Hell type game.
    Image

Favorite games of all time, by console and in no particular order, even though I know im going to forget games here or there:

    SNES:
    Terranigma
    Secret of Mana
    Super Mario RPG
    Super Mario 3
    Seiken Densetsu 3
    The Lost Vikings
    Killer Instinct
    Super Scope

    Sega Genesis:
    Golden Axe
    Beavis and Butthead
    Mortal Kombat Series
    Mutant League Football

    N64:
    Turok 64
    Super Mario 64
    Resident Evil 0
    Starfox 64
    Clayfighter 33 1/3
    Ogre Battle 64

    Dreamcast:
    Seventh Cross Evolution
    Sonic Adventure
    Sword of the Berserk
    Timestalkers
    Shenmue 1 and 2

    PSX:
Suikoden (favorite game of all time)
    Suikoden 2
    Resident Evil Series
    Persona Series
    Oddworld 1 and 2
    Brave Fencer Musashi

Im going to stop there for now lmao. Just realized I will write a damn novel if I keep going. Runner up for my favorite game of all time is Ultima Online, even though by the time I took this screenshot the game was pretty terrible.

Indie and older, retro games for me nowadays. I love playing free online flash games and still have a soft spot for old school platformers.

My favorite games, without putting much thought into it:

    Final Fantasy VII
Mega Man Series (1-6, the rest suck ass)
    Contra
    Dr. Mario
    The Legend of Dragoon

    Favorite non-video game games:

Knights and Knaves - This was a summer camp game. Very similar to Stratego in the way each player had a rank and there were two teams. The teams would go run off into the woods and a player could challenge an opponent if they are found. Any player on any team can initiate the challenge (except for a couple of ranks) and from there Stratego rules applied. It was a blast to play.
    Capture the Flag
    Scattergories
    Asshole (So many drunken nights)
Left, Right, Center - Made family events much more fun

I went with anything with game in it cus I'm pretty open minded, but lately as far as video games go I've gotten to the point where it's only big releases I'm excited about. Gears 3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, etc. I bought a nintendo Wii for the sole purpose of cracking it and playing a bunch of SNES games that I had missed playing. Marlo and I DnD'd for a while about a year ago. I also I do love card games (poker, asshole, magic the gathering) and board games too. Yesterday we had a games day that lasted a full 12 hours. We played 4 player chess, settlers of catan (some expansion) and Risk 2210. The Risk game lasted 5 hours and showed no sign of ending so we just called it a 3 way tie  probably the most intense game I've ever played.

I voted "other or none of the above". I have a X360 and a Wii, but rarely use them. WiiSports is fun to play with friends when drunk. And on X360 I mostly play driving games. Got GTA4 and a couple of other games but haven't really started any of those. Forza Motorsport is a cool series, but haven't played that either in a long time. I think the last time I played any games (on either systems) was some time last autumn.

Oh, I'm addicted to Angry Birds. Got three stars on every level, so I have to find a new addiction. And something else to do at work too.

I grew up on Atari and Nintendo, so all those games.

My favorites though are Quake, Call of Duty on PC and NCAA Football on Xbox.

Used to be very active in Quake for tournaments and organized team activities (aka clans), but that is a long time ago now and PC gaming for FPS games is pretty dead.

Im not really playing any games at all, but when I did, these were my faves:

Megaman series (Esp. the X-series on SNES when the story got a bit deeper)
    Final Fantasty Tactics
    Shadow of the Colossus
    Heroes of Might and Magic
    Diablo II
    Starcraft
    Warcraft II/III
    Anything by Rareware
    Pokemon
    Unreal
    Quake

I also played Magic: The Gathering a lot (still do once in a while) and I played all the variants of Warhammer, I did a few rounds of DnD and I also did that LARPing stuff just once. I can barely be bothered with video games anymore. Gameplay doesn't interest me at all, I found that I only played because I wanted to find out what happened in the story next, so now I just read books and watch movies. I still love a good round of Magic though and DnD is appealing. Stuff that involves contact with some real people and makes me use something besides a game controller works for me.

I can't be bothered with games anymor

I voted for anything with the word game on it cause I play both video games and card games.

For card games I play regular poker every wednesday with a group of friends who have organised a bit of a tournament format and I am OBSESSED with Magic the gathering.

For video games I play any north American rpgs. I used to like Japanese RPGs but for some reason I now find them boring and repetitive... with muddled stories. I also play shooters but prefer the ridiculous sci fi ones over the realisticish ones like Call of duty.

Some of my favorite old games are Shining Force from the sega genesis, the original Baldurs Gate on PC, and Final Fantasy IV (or 2) on the SNES.

OLD school gamer here - been video gaming for over 30 years. Started out with a few early pong-like systems, then a Hanimex cartridge-based system before hitting the big-time with the Atari VCS 2600. Since then have owned Commodore 64, various Amigas, Sega Megadrive, Dreamcast, all the playstations, etc.

Currently in our house we have a Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, 3 xbox 360s, 2 PS3s (one busted), three PSPs, 3 DSs, a wii and probably a few more I cannot think of.

All time favourite games would be ELITE and LORDS OF MIDNIGHT. Years of my life playing those games.

Current favourites would be the Mass Effect series (my copy of ME 3 shipped today!) and Dark Souls/Demon Souls.

I think the better question for me is, what games do I NOT play. I play just about anything most of the time, depending on my mood. In terms of videogames, I do strategy, RPG, FPS, Beat Em Up, Fighting, Indie, etc. I haven't played many tabletop RPG, but love to role play and would love to sometime. I've done Magic the Gathering, along with some other interesting card games. The only ones I haven't done are sports games, driving simulators and anything recently released by Activision, the prime evil of the gaming industry. I've sampled some iPhone games, but they're usually too shallow to hold my interest for long. Games that rely too heavily on a gimmick like motion controls (particularly Kinect games) tend to lose their charm once the excitement of said gimmick is gone, so I've avoided getting a Kinect. If they manage to release more games that are fun on their own merits, I may get one in the future.
I'm also not much of an online multiplayer gamer. Without coercion from friends, I almost never play multiplayer on games that have it. As a roleplayer, I like to get immersed in my games, and the competitive atmosphere of multiplayer makes it very hard to do that.
With friends, I'm fine with some competition, however. As a result, I enjoy playing actual sports with them, so long as they don't pressure me to be too competitive. My main sports are tennis, ping pong, and pool, but I'll also play basketball or baseball in a very casual setting.
I think that about covers it.

Yeah, but hardcore sports fans need to realize they're freaks just like the rest of us.

Especially the fantasy draft leagues. I mean come on, that's just nerdy! Not a bad thing, but very nerdy.

Yeah, and yet they still raise their eyebrows and look at you like you're beyond strange when you say anything that suggests you have a passion outside of sports. I certainly get that when I talk about metal.

Very true, but we won't back away and laugh nervously the moment someone claims to be into tennis. I guess I just have a problem with everything but sports fandom being stigmatized.

BTW, what's wrong with tennis, everyone? It's like martial arts without the contact. I feel like a samurai when I play tennis.

I chose the "Other" option, because I'm not sure "Indie, and older retro Video Games Mostly" quite fits me because I do prefer older games, I'm not really into the modern eye candy stuff, I prefer my games to be fun to play than just visually appealing, but I'm not sure if the games I like qualify as being retro. My favourite games are first person shooters, and have been playing them ever since Wolfenstein 3D was first released for DOS in 1992 I think (I was about 9 at the time) and I still play Wolf 3D from time to time, as well as the original DOOM. I also enjoy Postal 2: Share The Pain, Far Cry, Half-Life, Serious Sam, Deus Ex, Clive Barker's Undying..

I think my favourite game of all time I'd have to say is the original Unreal Tournament, because I love LAN gaming with my friends, this game NEVER gets old. We can have weekend gaming marathons and have a whole lot of fun with it. But it's also fun as a single player game.

Other than that, I also enjoy some stealth games like Manhunt and Hitman, and the original 2D Prince of Persia, when I'm bored at my computer waiting for a download or something I often play Solitaire. I do have a PS2 and enjoy playing games like Grand Theft Auto and Just Cause, The Godfather and Mafia, and still have my old Sega Master System and Atari which I still use sometimes, but I do prefer PC gaming because I don't like joystick controls, especially when playing FPS games, I'm much more quick and accurate with the keyboard and mouse to point and shoot.

I played tennis in high school. I picked up racquetball when I got to college though. Much faster paced and less time spent fetching the balls. These days I mostly play basketball and ultimate frisbee (not disc golf) though.

Someone really needs to fix that post.

Anyone ever try tennis after months of racquetball? It feels like I'm swinging an iron mace.

I'm currently hooked on Batman: Arkham City. Maybe things will peeter down when I beat it for the first time, but I've been staying up as late as 3:00 and showed up late to work one time already this week. I have to beat it quickly before it can do any more damage to my sleep schedule.

Mark Hamil's performance as the Joker isn't as great as it was in Arkham Asylum, but the game has run the gamut of almost every Batman villain condensed into one game story. I never read the comics, but I feel like such a fanboy right now.
