Wow...this is about as good as it gets when it comes to a dream ("extreme" metal) line-up for me. Although my priority these days is to focus on seeing bands I've never seen before....I'll DEFINITELY make an exception to see all these guys again. Stoked!

One of the Behemoth videos I watched this morning was for the new song "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel." Haha - my review - a sort of Exorcist (as in the Linda Blair movie) for the 21st century. I love all the Behemoth videos, even though a few of them make me squirm a bit here and there.

^^^I've seen all the Paganfest bands before with the exception of Winterhymn...and I like them all very, very much (some of my most fun/crazy gig experiences ever are associated with these bands: Varg & Turisas in the tent at Wacken, Korpiklaani at Wacken & on 70K, both Turisas & Korpiklaani on other Paganfest bills, and Chthontic opening for Satyricon in Chicago. Also, these Paganfests & Heathenfests (went to one with that moniker back in 2009 with Eluveitie & others) are a kind of guaranteed blast - they just are!

...so, I think I may need to go again. Having said that, it kinda depends on the date because my April is already getting stacked with some "must-see" shows including Combichrist on April 13, Godflesh on April 15, & Metal Alliance (Behemoth, et al) on April 25. Ragnarokkr Apocalypse is happening again in early April & I may go to at least one night of that since Margie (Goddess of Metal) is coming in from CA for it, and some other 70K folks as well.

For at least the past several years now, my musical interests & tastes are congealing *primarily* around a handful of (somewhat broad) categories: black metal/"blackened" this & that, industrial/industrial metal/"electro" this & that (electronica in many forms), "progressive" this & that (mainly rock/metal), and folk/pagan/"world" (both "traditional" & metal). Going forward - I plan to continue to focus on those areas. (and I will always enjoy all my "nostalgia" music, e.g. 70s classic rock, 80s New Wave, 90s Alt/grunge & so on)

Seeing Combichrist & Godflesh within a few days of one another will be so rad I think...I saw the tail end of Combichrist when they opened for Rammstein here in 2011 - but seeing them in a small venue like Bottom Lounge should be killer. I saw Godflesh before (also in 2011), but I really loved that gig & Godflesh appearances are rare, so I'm making that a priority as well.

Just booked my flights to Vancouver for the Dark Tranquillity show on Feb 17, pretty much just so I can see Omnium Gatherum. If Omnium Gatherum get booked last minute I'm gonna feel pretty goofy

Still worth going though, I'll get to hang out with all my favourite Vancouver people and my Sister/Brother-in-law/Neice that I don't get to see very often anymore

The rumors were true, Mastodon is indeed heading on the road in the spring for a headlining tour and they're bringing Gojira and Kvelertak along for the ride. What a great tour package. Plane tickets to München was much cheaper than to Nürnberg which is closest to the festival.

My festival plans (+concerts outside Norway) for the rest of the year are:

14-17 April: Whatever interests me in Germany. I'll probably buy an Interrail ticket so I can move around as much as I want.

28-31 May: Out & Loud, Geiselwind, Germany
10-12 July: RockHarz, Ballenstedt, Germany
12-14 August: Rockstad: Falun (aka. Sabaton Open Air), Falun, Sweden
17-19 October: Metal Female Voices Fest, Wieze, Belgium
November(?): ProgPower Oslo (if it happens, no info or even dates yet)

Ok, so I'm going to the Netherlands in March after all. Unfortunately that means I won't go to Close-Up Båten.
Not only will I see Delain in their home town, but I will see Grand Supreme Blood Court in Maasbree on the Saturday night. Girlie metal and death metal on the same trip! Wohoo!
