    Fixing an error

Never had much problems with those. Normally I'm on the edge, just covering my girl with my height and weight.

But once upon a time, on a Angra's mosh pit show, it was really big and hard (can't imagine why, anyway).

Some hairy metal guys were dropping into many directions as flies on a picnic sandwich, and I was flawlessly pushing them away. But it happen that someone has pulled a random girl from the off-pit at my direction, and it happened that I innocently pushed her onto the pit. Her boyfriend (tall as my shoulder) jumped on me in rage, pointing to her tiny and unprotected femme on the middle of the mess.

Not thinking much, I joined the pit as a fearless ogre (Shrek?) and picked on her shoulders and threw her back to safety as an Olympic champion.

It was fun, but never happened to happen again. And the guy was sorry to climbing me.

I used to mosh when i was younger but i've kinda grown out of it.
These days most people seem to think that moshing is throwing punches at people anyway.
I remember at Megadeth one guy tried to act tough and moshed into me.I just stood there and he jumped into me and hit his head off mine and nearly knocked himself out.Security kept giving me dirty looks for the rest of the gig despite the fact i didn't do anything
I personally prefer to headbang and throw my first in the air and play air guitar. If somebody keeps moshing into me and tries to know me down i usually give them a shove and send them flying

 Super funny thread. in '95 I got my jaw dislocated and knocked at in a Kreator pit. And just this year on February 27th I was at a local metal showcase benefit for a venue when this band played who are like the extreme metal GG Allin and I was not really paying attention and the lead singer just came out of nowhere at the end of their set and attacked me. I have been to the doctor 4 times, the ER once. I hit my elbow on concrete when I landed and got severe bursitis in my elbow. I had to have it drained with needles and then it got infected.

I guess at 47 I should have known better. :metalguy:

Some others that come to mind-

Someone stage dove on top of me (when I was in the circle pit at a Forced Entry show in '91 and I messed my shoulder up.

Then at The Accused in '88 the guitar player kicked a broken beer bottle and the shards of glass went flying off the stage and a slither landed in my EYE. How painful THAT was....ouch

I stay out of the pit anymore, but in the past I have been relatively unscathed. I will say that any one who I dated in the past always seemed unlucky when we went to shows. Hell, there was one time in stadium seating that my boyfriend at the time had a drunk man fall on him from a few rows up. I couldn't tell you to this day how it happened, but it screwed my ex's neck up permanently.

I've seen more moshpit mishaps then I can count, so instead I shall share something a bit different.

It was June 4th 1988, and I was attending the Monsters Of Rock tour, which consisted of Kingdom Come, Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions and Van Hagar. This took place at the Orange Bowl (stadium), and there were approximately 27000 people there (ah, the good ol' days). There was a considerable moshpit for Metallica, which turned into a giant mudhole when they were done. A friend of a friend lost one of her shoes in the process and had to walk around like that afterwards. At some point I noticed that the members of Anthrax were in the stands eyeballing some topless women and their ample breasts. Quite a sight.

Now, sometime between Dokken's set and the Scorpions, a curious thing occured. I began to notice a commotion up in the stands on one side of the stadium, which within moments began to spread like a wave throughout that side down to the field and up the other side, until the entire place was in the midst of the biggest food fight ever. Actually it was more then just food, as every conceivable item a person could throw was thrown. This lasted for about 3-4 minutes and finally died down. In the end, it was a big mess and that girl that lost her shoe? During all that she got hit in the head by the lost shoe and therefore retrieved it. What are the odds

    Hrmm

This must have been 10 years ago... I went to see Slayer, American Head Charge opened for them and were 'slayered' off the stage. After their 4'th or 5'th song the band got pissed off and started yelling at the crowd. At one point there was a heated exchange between the drummer and someone in the first or second row. The drummer ultimately jumped off the stage, into the crowd dropkicking the fan... there was carnage in the first 2 rows for the next 5 minutes and the drummer ultimately spent the night in the hospital and American Hand Job... err head charge... quit the tour after that show.

A few years later, at another Slayer show I was in the pit, minding my own business and having some fun. At the end of one song i felt someone behind me grab my hair and pull it back, I have short hair so it didn't really hurt, but was none-the-less aggrivating. I turn around to see who it is, and discover a short blond woman who looks like shes had a few too many lines of coke screaming at me. Soon as I turn around she jabs her fingernails into my face attempting to gouge my eyes. I push her off and she comes back at me, again trying to gash me with her fingernails, again I push her back, then a third time she comes after me. However, this time before she gets to me, my girlfriend comes out of NOWHERE and nails the bitch square in the jaw with her elbow. The blond chick hit the floor like a ton of bricks and some guy eventually came and picked her up and carried her to the infirmary. To this day I have no idea what she was so pissed off about.

    Not really a horror story...
When I went to college, I started dating this girl, she'd never heard 'real' metal before, and lets just say I opened her eyes. She LOVES metal now. So a few months later Slayer is coming around on tour. I offer to buy her a ticket and she accepts. Now, prior to this slayer concert, the heaviest band she'd seen live was REO Speedwagon... not kidding either. So I stand with her on floor, but towards the back so she can see what a moshpit is and basically learn how *not* to get killed at Slayer. Well, finally slayer takes the stage and as 'Darkness of Christ' kicks in the pits start to form and I realize immediately we're standing right in the middle of them all. The band goes right into Disciple and BLAM the pits all erupt into one big moshing frenzy I'm able to hold on to her and get her to the edge. Shes all smiles loving the show and the chaos. A song or two later things calm down for a second and then I hear *DUN DUN DUN* and I realize whats about to happen. Again.. *DUN DUN DUN* she looks at me funny and I just whisper in her ear "Welcome to Hell" and then all hell breaks loose. The entire floor explodes into a pit for Raining Blood. I couldn't find her for the rest of the show. We met back up at my car afterwords.

Most of these alleged tough macho slayer fans are actually a bunch of pussies.
I've gotten into moshpits with them and come out unscathed and knocked many of them to the ground.

Agreed, its 1/2 the fun of going to Slayer shows. Slayer is probably my favorite metal band of all time I've seen them live probably.. 15+ times. Theres always bunch of punks that think they're huge metalheads cause they go to slayer shows and try to start shit.

No major mosh pit stories. Sort of a funny one though...

My buddy Mike and I went to The Beaver Lodge in a nearby town called Cloverdale for an all ages show of a bunch of young bands we'd never heard of. Mike and I had been to some pretty heavy shows together in the past and both always moshed like mad and would then track each other down later or whatever. So at 'the lodge', the 2nd band on stage was damn good and couldn't be a kid up there over 16. Crowd was only a few hundred or so but a pit ensued and I was diggin the tunes so in I went. Well damn if about 30 seconds in some big yahoo starts doing full on DRI style stomps wearing these big ol' combat boots and WHAM! brings one boot down hard on my ankle. I crumple momentarily then someone gives me an arm up and I limp off towards the back to lick my wounds. Well Mike's laughing his face off as he saw the whole thing and, as I get near, he cackles something about me getting too old to be playin' with the kiddies. Yeah, yeah, FU I tell him and grab a seat to inspect the throbbing ankle.

About an hour and a half / 2 bands later, Mike comes waltzing out of the pit with a broken wrist. We dragged our sorry asses outta there. Him to the local emerg and me to my couch for some ice and prop the leg up.

Been a bit more of a pit fringe type like MW ever since but I still get in there from time to time just to prove I'm not completely ready for the farm.

    * * *

Tourach's tale cracked me up cuz I can't even count the number of times I've seen hostile, loaded women at metal gigs. Twice I've seen some girl/woman get all choked at some guy and start screaming, yelling, swinging and then, finally, totally attacking the guy and then look back at her boyfriend for backup when the guy shoves her off of him. Boyfriend just shakes his head in disgust and walks away. Pretty certain it wasn't the same couple both times but both times I remember imagining the guy thinking, "Fuck! She does this EVERY time" Women are amazing for the most part but damn, when they're loopy, they're REALLY loopy!

I was at this one show a few years back, I forget the lineup... but anyway, there was a couple of guys in front of me in the front row and some lady kept trying to push through to get to the front and the one guy turned around and popped her right in the mouth. She thought it was me and proceeded to jump on me and take a bite out of my arm. Didn't rip any flesh off but bled like hell and hurt nonetheless. Crazy bitch! That's about the worst mosh pit horror story I can think of that happened to me personally.

well this year at graspop 3 of my friends run off to go stand frontline at hatebreed (yeah i know  )

i was staying back watching the big screens.

They showed some footage of a girl going down in the middle of the circle pit and seconds after that you see 2 shoes flying away.

there i was hoping it was not one of my friends...

    how wrong could i be...

after hatebreed they take a while to come back to where we were standing...

she arrives first with 2 completely mangled shoes in her hands... socks are gone... feet blacker then hell... one big freaking smile on her face...

    end of the story...

she lost her shoes kept on going lost her sock (ripped off) and kept going... after the concert she was stumbling around and found her shoes mangled in a corner of the area...

I havent had anything really bad happen to me. I ended up with a black eye when I ran into the circle put during 3 Inches of Blood. I got elbowed to the spine that dropped me for no more than a few seconds. Before I could shoot back to my I think I caught a foot to the eye. Didnt realize I was bleeding until after the show when my friends told me haha.

I did see some little hardcore kid get beat the hell down by an older redneck guy though. I was standing on the outskirts of the pit during Shadows Fall around 03ish, in New Orleans, and this kid was fighting invisible ninjas in the pit. He went to jump kick a ninja but ended up kicking a HUGE old redneck right in the side of the face. Almost instantaneously the redneck got in the pit and beat this kid sooo bad he was crying while attempting to crawl away. We ended up pulling the redneck off of the poor bastard and the kid ended up leaving the pit, crying in his gfs arms, with the paramedics.

Im not one of violence at a metal show, but dont throw wild punches and kicks into mid air then be surprised when you get your ass kicked for hitting someone.

    Hmmmm....lets see....It was either 96 or 97....I concert here called the U-Fest....
It was during the summer at a pavillion...an ALL day affair...so by the end of the day close to when the headliners are to play....
The majority of people that were there all day, are sunburnt, sweaty, dehydrated, & drunk..... (rememebr its Arizona and probably around 110 degrees outside)

I am by no means a "moshpit" partaker...but I was close to the stage off to the side with 4 other girls.....
The "DEF TONES got up on stage and by the looks of it they were feelin no pain at the time....
they started getting the crowd all riled up, and egging on the drunk maniacs in the crowd yelling "Lets TEar this place up!!"...well they caused a wave of anxiety as they started to play and continued to cuss and carry on cuz they didnt like the sound quality......the venue ended up cutting their power supply as the riot they created only got more out of control...
people were rushing up on stage and jumping into the crowd non stop and smashing some of the equipment....we had just turned to get the hell outta there when a 6' 3" guy (wearing combat boots, I was told)
hurled himself off the stage near us.....next thing I know...Im opening my eyes to find my girlfriends and Paramedic standing above me asking me how old I was and how many fingers were they holding up...
HOLY SHIT....my head hurt so bad and I instinctly wanted to get the hell up off the dirty ground lol....they wouldnt let me move and put me on a stretcher and off to the hospital in an ambulance!

I was told that the guy pretty much PLUMMELED me to the ground by jumping strait onto my head with my back towards the stage...I was instantly "KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT"....and got 7 stiches in my head!!
....needless to say....DEF TONES is a bad taste in my mouth for sure...havent liked them ever since...(not that I ever did though lol)

Oh boy, where do I begin?
Family Values Tour 1998: On psychadelic drugs at the time and punched Fred Durst right in the neck. Security literally threw me into a crowd of people and I got away. LOL!!!!!
Slayer 2002: Got kicked in the face about 15 times by crowd surfers. 2 black eyes for about 3 weeks.
Superjoint Ritual 2004: Guy jumped off stage and his hip hit me square in the forehead. I felt my neck snap from the top of my head down to the middle of my back. Had to get dragged out and it took about 20 minutes for me to see straight again. I haven't been the same since. No longer able to headbang for more than 3 seconds because I get wicked vertigo and my neck constantly snaps. Worst injury I've ever had in the pit.

Ozzfest 2005: Lost my wallet and cell phone in the pit. Someone said they saw them go flying through the crowd. And again, the venue found them and mailed 'em back to me. SOOOOO lucky!
Since then, many cuts and bruises, pulled muscles and minor stuff. Most of my fingers don't bend the way they used to. Every day after a pit, I always say I'm too old for this shit.

I had my jaw dislocated on the left side & broken on both sides of my chin because someone thought the show we were at was some bullshit scenecore show. If it weren't for the skin, my lower jaw would have completely broken off at the chin. My bottom front teeth were pointing out horizontally. I looked like Predator(AND I STAYED FOR THE REST OF THE SHOW), haha. Had my jaw wired shut for 3 months. Best diet I've ever been on AND all the Percocet I could eat. Would do again. The only drawback is that a lot of my teeth are chipped & broken now.

I also had a guy grab me by the throat & try to strangle me for no reason one time when I went to see Bad Religion. I had to bite a chunk out of his arm to get him to let go. I thought he was going to crush my trachea.

    Jesus Alabaster!

I just remembered at Lords of Acid/The Cramps show in 92 when some chick there said "Hi I am mona" and I said Hi back and she grabbed my arm and bit it until she drew blood.

I said "Owwwwwwwwwww fuck" and I called her a bitch.

I went in for a HIV/Rabies test the very next day

I know huh? There was a drunk german dude at Wacken one year who was running around all muddy and half naked and he was biting everyone in his path and he was wearing buttons on his skin alll over the front of him he had pierced himself with buttons and there were trickles or blood in all sorts of drying states on the front of him.

I was like "okie dokie" strangeland in Wacken :givebeer:

Thanks man! It was a duty I had to do. But at Family Values I was 18 (I'm 30 now) and at the time liked Korn, I still LOVE Rammstein, and once listened to Ice Cube. Yeah, I used to listen to some rap, I admit it. Please don't throw me overboard. :|

Nah, its cool, I hate rap but some of my friends like the old school! and rap should never be mixed with metal but we can all be friends here.

Honestly, it wasn't painful at all. I went into shock immediately from the blood loss & when I got to the hospital for surgery 6 hours later, they gave me yummy meds. I have a really, really high pain tolerance, too. I seriously would have that shit happen again in a heartbeat. The good way out weighed the bad.

OK Deb yours is the exception! That sounds shitty too, but al least you've got a wicked scar to show for it and are otherwise not permanently damaged from the incident
