Indeed, glad you guys had a blast. I heard there was some "throwdown" after Ghost w/ people wanting to stay at sonar and Marduk had a short set.

I guess I can post some stuff but they are already up on FB and most of us are already friends there, so it would be kinda redundant. When I get some time I'll throw some photos up. I'm not reloading the videos to anywhere else as that is a royal pain.

Quick rundown of MDF, who I liked:

My favorites were Hooded Menace, Ghost, Hail of Bullets, Coroner, Skinless. Repugnant, Inquisition, Nunslaughter, and Mammoth Grinder were also very enjoyable. :D

Hooded Menace was awesome, I love their music and sound and live kicked ass.

Ghost was amazing... as good as their album is, it was even better live because it sounded so much 'Heavier'.. plus the haunting-ness of their set and stage performance was much welcomed.

Coroner was all around a great band, need to listen to their albums... if I knew about them when I was 13/14 like other bands I probably would have gotten into all of their stuff.

Hail of Bullets were brutal. Need to listen to their stuff and go ape shit for it :metalguy: :headbanger: :death:

Skinless was brutal american death metal. Good show, and apparently it was the end of their 'career', the last Skinless show ever.

Nunslaughter was so entertaining, I liked all of the 'evil jokes', catchy riffing, great time!

All in all a great Death Fest and enjoyed hanging out with everyone and being around a pool of metalheads (even if many were of the 'crusty' breed).

nice recap. those were the highlights for me too, and then add Ed Warby bringing us Stroopwafels all the way over from the Netherlands, and Bentz bringing us beer from Michigan, and you bringing us Burger cookies, we got to try everything!

I think oyou'll be safe booking it once they announce it net month. Took many months for the hotel to sell out, but the guy at the desk said its going to get more and more popular, since they have only been open for 2 years.

My plan, once they announce it, regardless of the bands, to book it that day, so it's done and out of the way. Location was ultra convenient, minus dodging the traffic.

hell yeah it was! however, it was a very expensive trip for those of us who live out west. i wish i could automatically book, but the lineup would have to be KILLER for us to go again next year - don't see how we'd pull it off unless the lineup is sooo sweet we decide not to go anywhere else! so yeah, not looking likely for us next year but it was way fun!

Well Mrs P (as Kent refers to her as) has already committed to going next year. Mrs Bentz will be super jazzed about that. This of course is conditioned upon the lineup as well. It doesn't have to be insane, just a few bands that I really want to see.

    Was your flight expensive ?

The flight was $800 for both of us, yeah pricy! $400 for hotel, $265 for both of our 3 day passes, so $1500 without even food, beer or merch! probably closer to $2000 total. not really an option for us unless the line up is mind blowing and/or we can't go to europe in the foreseeable future.

Ouch. Well assuming the lineup is good, Jenn and I plan to go, but Europe would be out, unless we somehow get into a financial money tree by next year.
My flight is half the price and depending upon which days I want to go, that saves money on the passes and hotel room.

It's not inexpensive of course, but kinda/sorta reasonable if things break the way I hope. 2 days at the fest was enough for me. Plus having a "chiil" day beforehand.
