they are on my (non-existing) list of good/interesting bands I haven't really checked out, yet - "Night Eternal" it's going to betyrwoman wrote:I only know the one album by Moonspell (Night Eternal), and they have a sizable discography - so plan to check out/buy more soon.

they are probably more of a European thing - but some of the best stuff being released in recent years
you do know that it's a project of Tobias Sammet from Edguy...together with Sascha Peath, known by little for his time in Heavens Gate and rather not even recognized as the man responsible for the good sound of well-known bands like Kamelot
since the different releases vary in style, I give you a very short summary:
the first two albums (metal opera part I & II) are +/- what most people would call power metal and featured a variety of singers from that genre - including the anticipated "comeback" of Michael Kiske
they were supposed to be the only Avantasia releases; but a few years later "The Scarecrow" came out and drew some heat for not being that metal anymore
but to me, it's the best Avantasia album - with my personal highlight "The Toy Master" (feat. Alice Cooper!!)
last year's albums "Angel of Babylon" and "The Wicked Symphony" are very good, too - but somehow I would have preferred to pick "my songs" and just put'em on one album; I'm slowly getting into those "new" songs...

Cathedral: The Ethereal Mirror
Canadian Band, eh? I still remember where and when I checked out one of their albums - it was a time where CD stores were still "en vogue" and there even was one in my village
Cathedral? not my cup of tea, btw
np: Avantasia - Symphony of Life
the only song not written by T.Sammet - no wonder it sounds quite different, but interesting nonetheless
