Still trying to convince myself it will be worth 40+ USD to go to a show others say will be good, while I'm having huge problems getting into the band even on youtube

I decided to go tomorrow, even though I'm also struggling to get into them, but for me the ticket is only ~25USD and the show is within walking distance.

I loved Agalloch from the first time I heard them several years ago beginning with the album The Mantle.... but not surprising to me because it's very atmospheric, moody music really and I've always loved that kind of thing going way back. Albums like Ulver's Shadows of the Sun, Negura Bunget's Om or Porcupine Tree's The Sky Moves Sideways provide a similar mood for me even though they are different on the surface in some (many?) ways. I dunno - I think people are either going to like it from the get go -or- not at all - don't think it is the kind of music that "grows" on a person necessarily (who doesn't like it right away) - although I could be wrong. Re Sunn O))) - it is indeed very bizarre "music" and I like that kind of thing in relatively small doses - ideally with headphones on low-ish volume...in the dark! Similar but better (what I prefer) along those lines is Portal & Blut aus Nord.

I mentioned on some recent post on this thread, that - for me - the ideal way to listen to Blut aus Nord (and Sunn O))), Portal and a few others) is in relatively small doses, laying down, in the dark, with headphones on fairly low volume....quite the trippy experience. Anyway - listened to the album below again last night before I went to sleep and I really love it. And I don't doubt it caused some of the weird dreams I had.
