You can sorta see my vest in my profile pic. I recently performed a vest transplant operation. In 1998 I painted the album cover for Kreator's "Pleasure to Kill" album on the back of a denim vest and of course made other additions. Well, this year (12 years later) I decided to finally make the call that the current vest had really seen better days and that I needed to do some updating. I acquired a new vest and cut out the painting and used it as a back patch on the new one. So far so good, but I need some certain patches for it yet. I'll post a better pic when I get home from work tonight and you'll see it on the cruise!

Actually more than anything I think it's the lighting. The sun was going down and put a warm cast on everything. Heck -- my hair looks red and it's not. Glad you like! I'd love to see what you're working on. I enjoy paining I just never do it anymore.

Oh yeah, I just realized what you're saying. I definitely took some slight artistic liberties with the color and had to crop some of the background from the original to make it work. I haven't compared the actual cover to my vest (which I see pretty much everyday) in a while!

    Some better shots:

The pins/buttons are: a red lantern (a train thing or a dog sledding race thing -- happens to be flipped upside down in the photo), an inukshuk, a replica antique Moab U.S. marshal badge, DisSucks button, maple leaf, Philadelphia Baldwin Locomotives Works pin.

ragnaröks_roller: Wicked stuff! Love that painting and your Moonsorrow patch is awesome. What is the meaning behind "ragnaröks roller 60" though? That's not a band, is it?

Edit: Totally said "Dude" in this post without thinking. My bad! I rarely see ladies with patch vests.

My guess is that it's her viking/norse mythology metal inspired roller derby "get-the-F-outta-my-way" nickname.

Someone get this penguin a sardine or somethin'! Yeah, The Ragnarök's Roller thing is my derby name. I'm #60.

I'm considering a name change. Originally that one was a compromise from a bunch of ideas I had that I felt were WAY too obscure as to be relatable, but as it turns out this one isn't relatable anyway and it doesn't roll off the tongue very well. Complicating things is that your derby name has to be distinctive enough from other derby girls from all over the world, which is now standing at almost 24,000 people and is actually more, as the updates are VERY behind. (The registry is at http://www.twoevils.org/rollergirls/ -- fun to look at even if you're not into roller derby!) Though permutations with "valkyrie" are too close to others, it seems to like "Die Walküre" (German and the name of the Wagner opera) fine. Hmmm....

So where's everyone else's vest photos? Surely we are not the only people here who engage in this bit of metal culture and identity?

fuck yes i did. Atheist was great too but I was there for Repulsion. In fact, i'm not sure if you remember but i was the guy wearing a bright red SxOxBX shirt and while Repulsion was playing i was stage diving, and one the times i did stage dive i got really excited and jumped OVER the front crowd area into the pit area and landed straight on the hardwood floor with no one to catch me. I heard a loud "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" from the crowd and couldnt walk right for a while but it happens

The one story I have about the brutality of LA pits is that I got kicked in the face during Repulsion at the knitting factory and being in the front row.
Now I know who it was.
