    The World According to Metalwrath

by Disaster Area » Tue Jan 04, 2011 11:19 am

So out of sheer boredom I decided to bump the oldest topic from here that was somewhat relevant and interesting, I was about to comment on Rob's post "Tons of Metal Community" currently 7th page 3rd to last, but while reading through it I found a true gem that had stuck in my mind and I have been searching for with no luck recently. Well, fate (or some such thing) led me to the exact post this morning!

Certainly some of the more poignant and entertaining posts on here have come from our good natured drunken-Irish friend Peter (aka Metalwrath). At the risk of causing him a swollen ego gland I hereby dedicate this thread to this wise-beyond-his-years metal head. I will start with my absolute favorite. From way back on, Thu Mar 25, 2010, I think this was the post that established his general attitude going forward, enjoy.

Metalwrath wrote:Metal is not just about the music. It's the attitude and the mentality too.
This is a metal cruise. Not happy gay hug each other hippy fest but at the same time i'm not gonna spend my time on the boat having a huge debate with someone about if the bands they listen to suck or not.
The way i intened on spending this cruise is drinking, rocking and fucking and thats the way it should be.If i don't get on with someone i just won't hang around with them simple as that.As a metalhead it's not my obligation to befriend those who would irritate me .
Each to his own i suppose :viking:

so what is you favorite wrathism? :heavydrink:

As much as I love some of his rants, I think one of my all time favourites has to be:

    NO!!!

    Short and sweet.

Theres a few other good ones that are completely incoherent, followed by a post the next day saying "I don't remember posting that".

I don't know Metalwrath (aka: Peter) personally or much at all. But I do appreciate his brute honesty and opinion in these forums. I would definitely love to hang out with this fucker and drink til there's no tomorrow.

As far as some awesome posts he made, this one just made me chuckle.

When this thread was started today, the Metalwrath posts that came to my mind first off were in relation to "attire." This is from a very humerous thread from a while back entitled...Who has the Guts to Wear One of Their Cheesy Metal Shirts??
    viewtopic.php?f=7&t=651

    Metalwrath opined on 9/22/2010....

"I am a bit drunk now but thats irrelevant to the post that i made on my lunch.
To me metal is about the music and not what fucking colour tshirt or wheter you wear a tshirt stating some 80's rock band instead of a metal tshirt.
I'm going on this cruise to get wasted and go see a lbunch of metal bands and hang with some other cool metalheads.
But i did not spend all this moeny so i could hang around with people who talk about fucking shirts and fashion all day.
Seriously if you actually have to ask these questions in the first place then metal is not the music style or life style for you.

I'm not the only one.I mean look at the amount of stupid threads.I'm not aiming this at any particular countries but in Europe you won't see people carrying on like this.I mean at this stage some of the bands are reading these threads and thinking.Jesus look at the kind of reatrds we're gonna have to put up with on the cruise'

Metal is about the music and getting wasted and having a good time,It's also about freedom.

So i'm gonna sum up all your dumb threads and questions now.

What tshirts do you plan to wear for the cruise? : Whatever the fuck i want .Metalheads don't give a shit about that kind of crap.

Appropriate attire: The organisers know it's a metal festival on a cruise and so will the staff. They aren't gonna expect you to wear suits and fucking bow ties.Besides we'll be on a boat on international waters so even if some state in the U.S has some dumb fucking law about what tshirt you wear it won't matter.

Who has the guts to wear a cheesy metal tshirt? : it's a known fact that msot metlheads like cheesy metal and rock too.The ones who refuse to admit that are the real posers.Once again metalheads aren't gonna give a fuck if you wear a Winger tshirt.

Is this cruise suitable for non metalheads : Well if they are not into metal then why are you brining them on the cruise in the first place. The sole purpose of the cruise is heavy metal and drinking beer.If you want a family holiday Disneyland or Disneyworld(can't remember which one) is pretty nearby.

There are many many other stupid posts i couldn't be bothered adressing but seriously some of the people on the forum seem like genuine malheads but for the msot part you jsut seem like some people who are tagging along becuase metal is 'Cool' to like these days."

A "purveyor of false metal" Metalwrath is assuredly not!

A personal fave from Mr. Wrath was when I posted something about being a "closet" SYL/Devin Townsend disliker and he wrote a reply that said no one should ever keep their feelings to themselves and how he was proud to NOT like SYL. I had momentarily forgotten that I was talking with people who don't know me and wouldn't understand the humor behind me saying anything about keeping opinions to myself. I'm pretty outspoken, but I think Metalwrath probably even has me trumped in that particular area. Can't wait to meet him.

Looking up funny Metalwrath quotes is like going down a funny 70K Tons of Metal forum memory lane - all I had to do was remember some of the funnier threads - scan through them, and there is often a funny Wrath contribution. And for newer forum members who are bored, I put links to some of these long dead threads if you want to check them out....

On the thread entitled: "Moshing as a liability?"

Woke up fine the next morning despite also falling down a hill later that night.

On the thread entitled "Appropiate "attire" ? (since this a cruise afterall)" - yes - ANOTHER attire thread
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=60&start=120 in response to me posting a picture of Vreth of Finntroll (saying I wanted that same get-up)
Metalwrath wrote:minus 100 metal points for Vreth wearing a man dress in that picture.
