7 penalties on home ice. Dammit, bloody Caps. At least I picked up the Phaneuf question. Hopefully the Wings hold off Dallas, sorry Dan ;)

As much as I'd love to join you in your hatred Marlo, wtf??? we totally beat ourselves in SO many ways tonight.

Inexperience, immaturity and lack of discipline and composure taking dumb penalties when there was lots of hockey left to play just dug an insurmountable hole. Came as close as we possibly could have to tying it up in the end there but wasn't our night. Watching that game, I really regretted that we got the bye into the semi and that our initial pool was so weak and offered us pretty much zero competition with which to prepare for a tough elimination game

As an aside, how the hell did the commentators pretty much completely avoid talking about how that one Russian player totally ran over our goalie on that 4th goal? Me and my buddy were screaming at the tv wondering if we were the only ones that thought it mattered at all until they finally gave it a passing comment about 5 minutes later. Surprised our boys didn't respond to that either and take the guy's head off :?

I hate that we're not in it but still gotta say that's a good lookin' matchup for the gold medal game.
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

I know. You're right (I hate saying those two words to ANYONE), Rob.

But why... why always the Russians? Did we not go through this last year??? Nail biting, close match to get our asses kicked by the Russians? I know we didn't play that well at all during the first two periods but damn it. I don't care if we deserved a win or not, I wanted it

Ok no idea what I looked at last night, only 4 penalties to the Caps.

Commiserations to the Canadian team, a tough loss. Guess now it's go Sweden eh?

I'm totally with you on that, that was an absolute disgrace to see the goalie get hurt without anybody reacting. Also, the dirty hit on Jenner should have been a 5 and a game (it would been so in the NHL, no doubt about it), and instead, it's the Canadian player that got a game misconduct and a 5. Huberdeau, our best player in the tournament in my opinion, got a 10 for a minor unsportsmanlike behavior (ridiculous penalty considering the mvoe he made), and the Russians kept diving all game all long, agonizing as soon as a stick or a glove went a little high. Frustrating game to watch, but...

WHAT AN EPIC FUCKING GAME!! The comeback was unbelievable, as much as the atmosphere. And that post hit by Strome neat the end, my... Good old hockey!

And as much as I hated the referees in that game, Canadian players are to blame for the loss. Too many penalties, crappy def, bad goaltending (it's been like this for a couple of years now in the Junior Champs, last good goalie was Price in 2007). I would have loved a comeback, but Canada deserved the loss!

a lot of close matches - haven't seen a single minute on tv, though
(it's not like the Junior WC gets any airtime here)
I must say, I would have preferred a Finland vs. Canada, too

Oh it was awesome! Killer seats, good time and some GREAT hockey! I love the Juniors the best for Hockey, so much more intense and the games are always so exciting to watch. Young guys that account for good eye candy trying to make a name and reputation for themselves and throwing what nationalistic pride can inspire in there too certainly doesn't hurt. Really glad I was able to hit up two of the games this year, I've been to hundreds of hockey games before but never a Juniors game and it was high on my bucket list :beerbang:

Watching the Sweden vs Russia game right now.

You know, I really, really like the Bruins. They're a great team. Last year, in my predictions, I put them straight where they went: as Stanleuy Cup champions. Even as a Habs fan. Yet, this year, I hope they get fuckin' destroyed, in any possible way. I love their team as much as last year. I hate their fans. And mooyagi's just the tip of the iceberg. Boston fans are so arrogant they just deserve to lose. As much as I like how they play, as much as I like Thomas and his epic goaltending, their fans are just... (put random negative word). I recognize the team's talents. I can't stand arrogance.

    Go, huh, Nashville, go!

 And Habs fans aren't? Give Montreal the cup and see how the fans are. That goes for any team. It's all playful on this forum ;) Seriusly

lol... no, no trash talk. Can't earn that until I see you guys bow out of playoffs before us and even then it won't be much unless it's at our hands

Nah I just figured since you guys took it on our ice, this is the Boston faithful's first chance to cheer for the Bruins while the guys ya took it from are on your home ice. And yes, of course, I'm hoping they taunt chant Lou and he stone's 'em to show he's still got some pride n' skill but who knows. Both teams are pretty hot right now so I expect a great tilt :headbanger:

Personally, I think 9-0 over some bottom feeders ain't quite as impressive as 2-0 over a contender but hey, a shutout's a shutout ;)
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me
    :shred:Book 'em ANDO!! :headbanger:

The Garden's gonna be rockin' Saturday for that one! Two of the top teams in the league. Should be fun.

58 shots on net... Makarov was brilliant, but the Swedes wouldn't relent. Russia just looked out of gas.
    Congrats Sweden. :smash:
2012 - There for MDB, worth it
2012 Barge to Hell - Ruled
    2015 - Should've gone to MDF 2014
2016 - Awesome, best lineup since Barge
2018 - Solid lineup, great time
    2023 - Hypo & RC
2024 - Perhaps the best lineup yet

Hopefully so! You know, it's shame Radulov went back to the KHL, I was a huge fan of him since he played in my hometown during his junior years. An incredible player, that I'd have loved to see in the Preds. But Gabriel Bourque just scored his first goal, my ex-roomate knows him very well, you just gained some more fans in Quebec! :D

Personally, I think 9-0 over some bottom feeders ain't quite as impressive as 2-0 over a contender but hey, a shutout's a shutout

True! But let them think they'll win again this year, it'll just be more painful when they get kicked out in the second round!

Moo: True Habs fans cheer for their team. The "Ole Ole Ole" is taken from soccer crowds, and are aimed towards the home team; it's an encouragement song. Of course some fans are asses, but it's a case for most passionate teams. BUT!! ( :ugeek: ) Everytime I see a Bruins fans talk, it's just to discredit another team. I haaaaate that, cheer for your team, stop being pricks! And I'm not talking about you, you're a soft-hearted fan, truly, most are worst!!

The discrediting is probably a lot more prevalent now because every major team in the city has had ultimate success in the past 10 years. There have been seven victory parades in the city in that time. Those teams, with success and a sports media that has a northeast bias comes a target. They become the villains in the league. People get this idea that everyone is out to get them/discredit the teams' successes in any way they can. They return the favor. People out here LOVE the villain role so they take great pleasure in making everyone else miserable as a result.

Not to mention that the teams have been around for so long (except the Patriots) that some very fierce and long-standing rivalries have formed. Those always get ugly over time. You probably see more hate from B's fans because of the rivalry with the Habs. :deathhorns: Keep in mind, the Habs have dominated the rivalry over time. There's a lot of bitterness down here.

And don't worry. There is a looooot of cheering for the teams going on too. We just do it at the same time as all the other fun stuff.

    GO SWEDEN!! KILL THOSE BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's freakin awesome, man, so jealous.
"Young guys that account for good eye candy trying to make a name and reputation for themselves and throwing what nationalistic pride can inspire in there too certainly doesn't hurt" has set the bar for the best sentence I've read so far this young year...

    Sorry about the Flames...

 Thanks! And I'm still in awe of that game. WTH Flames. ACTUALLY. At least Sweden won last night, suck it Rusky bastards :deathmetal: :deathmetal: :deathmetal:

Rob hun, I have mucho cabin mate love for you man and was cheering for Vancouver to stomp the ever loving shit out of Boston this weekend... but this comment. As deserved as it is after last night's disgrace... I now wish a pox on both Canucks and Bruins in their game this weekend in which all of your star players are hit with serious injuries, unable to play and completely fuck up their chances to even make the play offs.

    Love Marlo
