Tortorella's system looked pretty good on our guys in the first period but Sharks now have our number for 7 or more straight games counting the 2 pre-season matches. They earned it too. Great intensity and effort on the part of their forwards and some real sweet shots to beat Lou who actually looked quite strong all game.

Wow! What a season opener for the Yotes! Awesome celebration with our new owners (I maaaaaay have teared up, just a little bit there), great crowd, Smitty was ON FIRE, Vrbata got a hat trick (which lead to a sombrero being thrown on the ice, haha). We dominated the Rangers and scored 4 goals on stupid, sexy Lundgvist?

Just all around amazing! So happy to still have a team to root for and see them do so well! Hopefully we can keep this up during the season.

San Jose is gonna be a force this year. Yotes and Nucks are in for a long stretch if the other Californian teams provide similar competition

Thankfully, we have the Albertans along for the ride to guarantee 2 of the bottom spots are accounted for

In the last five years, there was always a version of "SJ will be the one to lookout for" at the start of the season. Maybe they'll live up to prediction this year, but I would be surprised if they further than conference semi-finals. I'd put my money on Blues rather than Sharks to get further in play-offs.

Well, being in different divisions, the Blues wouldn't face the Sharks until the conference final anyways so I'm not sure how the 2 relate that much one to the other. But yeah, I agree that the Blues are likely to go deeper and are a better team in ways so I won't be taking that bet today thanks. And we all know how much playoff no-show the Sharks have shown over the years (wish they'd shown more last season lol). All I'm saying is they are going to seriously dominate the regular season and the Canucks are in for much tougher competition in their division than what they've been used to.

Maybe I expressed myself the wrong way, English isn't my native language. What I meant was, Sharks are always predicted to do great things and at the end they fail while Blues go below the radar and still doing good. I guess I like the style of hockey Blues play (or at least played two seasons ago and somewhat tried last season) - hard defense, fighting for every centimeter of the ice and not participating in goal extravaganza matches (although they did score 7 goals recently).

Indeed. I've been to many 1-0 or 2-1 Preds vs Blues games. They're always nail biters although I preferred when we were better :-).

Apparently the Bruins have not defeated Colorado in Boston since March of 1998.

Last night's shutout kept that streak alive. Stupid Giguere was unbeatable. He gobbled up anything put his way.

I've actually been pretty impressed with the HTC staff so far this season. They seem to have finally realized that making game day picks available less than 12 hours before puck drop isn't the most considerate way to treat the contestants. They're especially generous on weekends. I was able to make Monday's picks on Friday this week. Definitely a first.
