i mean this in the nicest way possible but fuck the yankees and your inability to put a holiday in the proper month. because today was consumer assault day all the hockey games were early. i log on at 230 my time figuring i had 1.5 hours or so to make my picks and lo and behold 2 games were over and the 3rd was deep into the 2nd period so there goes any chance of a hat trick

I've been wondering for years now without any real answer - why are teams in the West so much better than the East ones? A week or so ago, a team that was 9th on the West would have been #1 on the East by 3 points or so. There's also bigger culmination of star players in the East than the West. I'm not saying there are no star players in the West (there's tons of them) but they don't seem to have the same market value as the East ones. Sedin sisters, Thornton, Kopitar, Smith on the West don't really compare (in market value) to Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos in the East.

And this trend shows up in NBA as well. You get like 4 teams in the East that are over 50% wins in the Playoffs and in the West sometimes even 10th can't reach PO threshold with 50%. And it's the same with players there as well.

I don't know about other major US sports since I don't follow them.

PS: I put Kopitar there because he's the best defensive forward in NHL

I have to say that I was on the fence with an open mind when he was announced but have been totally swayed to the dark side of Tortorella fandom since his arrival. Despite lackluster results in the standings (compared to other West teams of course), I'm quite pleased with how he has the team's been looking, the contents of every one of his pressers and the identity he seems to be helping the team forge with renewed energy and determination in their play. I'm not planning the parade route or anything but my dislike for Alain has been wholeheartedly replaced by my appreciation and respect for John and I think we'll fare better in the playoffs if we actually get there

Considering Doan, Morris, Michalek and Korpikoski were out (not to mention Klesla was sent down), I'm pretty thrilled about getting a point. Gutsy game for my Yotes.

Well fucking hell. Puck goes in the air, lands inside Smitty's ass pads, and he unknowingly skates into his goal. Did I mention this was in OfuckingT? Fucking hell. I thought once a ref loses sight of a puck they need to blow the whistle? Fucking bullshit. Just like the shootout goal against Toronto. You never see the puck cross the goal line in any of the videos yet it's called a goal? That's two controversial goals in 2 out of 4 games.

Though if the Yotes hadn't fucking sat back expecting to win with one goal none of this would have happened. Ugh.
