I forgot to get my picks in today so 2 of the 3 were locked when I logged in. Would've gone Detroit and 6 or over so hopefully those will both turn out correct and that will make up for the one day head start I had

Currently watching Chi vs Det and cheering for the wings to do Calgary a favour :headbanger:

Must've been from Saturday. Couldn't have been yesterday as I picked Philly to score 3 goals. Glad I was wrong! :headbanger:

B's will try to help out you Flames fans this week too against the Blackhawks

Damn! Selanne just scored on a penalty shot. If the Wings had beaten the 'Hawks I would've had another hat trick.

I'm not that patriotic, as I see it I've never fought in a war - my parents just fucked here  . There are the benefits of living in our society and complete lack thereof of natural disasters in lieu of cold weather though. I love Canada don't get me wrong but the patriotic strings aren't that strong. Power Metal Sweet Spot?? LOL. That one isn't pulling any strings either   ;)

You're such a brat  Rob's kindness and sympathy for the Flames made me want to give the Canucks a chance but yes I do guess that's how it goes, especially after....

Wow. Amazing to see Selanne still doing it. 3 goal/5 point night for him.

By the way, I don't know the context but after Selanne completed the hat trick the PA announcer at the Pond made an announcement that sounded like "We're going to Hooters!" Got quite a cheer from the crowd. Maybe I should start going to Ducks games. I'm really curious to see what that promotion is.

    Not gloating, just saying...

No, it's NOT the Stanley Cup and I'd gladly trade 100 of them for just 1 Stanley but, all the same...

For the FIRST time in our 40 year franchise history, and with another 4 games yet to go in the regular season...

The Vancouver Canucks are PRESIDENT'S TROPHY CHAMPIONS

Not only did they come from behind (again) and totally dominate the 2nd period to erase an early, 1 goal deficit, but they held the L.A. Kings to ZERO shots on goal in the 3rd period!!

Add to that the fact that Daniel hit the 100 point mark tonight and it was really just something to behold the way they took over the ice in their own building to secure the league championship. Can't wait for playoffs to start!!!!

Oh, and Luongo let in only one goal for the 4th consecutive game! Could be getting hot at the right time

Just to give you an idea of how dominant these guys have been this year, check this out...

Over TWENTY-FIVE years since a team has led the league in both of the bottom two stats and over THIRTY since anyone's led in both the top two. Not sure if anyone's EVER led in all four but it may have happened. Still... Wow!

Yeah, big season for the Canucks. Congrats. It's all for nothing if they lose now though

They totally dominated LA in the second half of that game last night.

 Bruins have been wildly inconsistent this year. I'm glad that they did finally get around to clinching the division. Now we'll have to see if they can catch the Caps and Flyers for seeding.

A bit late, but "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" There goes Kings' chance for 2nd round and Slovenia's chances of staying in group A of hockey world championship with Kopitar's broken leg. And he set some kind of Kings' record for most consecutive games. What a shame  Kings will have really hard time clinging to 4th spot since the last two games are against Anaheim - and Perry and Getzlaf scored 19 points combined in last 5 matches.

Oh, well, I still have Penguins and Blackhawks to cheer for!

Yeah, Kopitar's a force and losing him is huge.

Clearly the league and refs cheer for the same teams as you cuz they sure helped the hawks in their bid to ruin the Flames' playoff hopes tonight with that lame ass call.

    Talk about kicking motion

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWbQcI42_iM&feature=related

The commentators are going on and on about whether the puck crossed the line and take forever to even begin discussing what SHOULD have been the issue. Hossa kicked it and no one else touched it. End of story. WTF? How that can go to video review and NOT be called off is frightening. I sure hope they get their heads outta their asses in time for playoffs (yeah right).

Anyways, sorry Calgary friends. Looks like that's the end of that. Maybe next year?

Bad reffing is nothing new to me - our best two teams play in an Austrian championship because the competition here is so poor. Recently best Hungarian team and best Croatian team joined. You wouldn't believe how favourable refs are towards the richest two Austrian teams. They can almost get "away with murder" while other teams get penilized just by looking at their opponents. It's a bit exaggerated, but you get my point. But, above all stands Red Bull Salzburg that is coached by Pierre Pagé (everyone says he's a legendary coach from NHL) and even they are despised by 95% of Austria for their "dirty plays" and "back room shenanigans".

And just for the record, since where I live people look at me the wrong way when I say I cheer for Pens and Balckhawks like some glory hunter - I've only started to cheer for Kings when they signed Kopitar (first Slovenian in NHL) but I've been rooting for Pens Lemieux times and for some odd reason, for Blackhawks since then too (I don't know why, must have liked the name and logo :P ).

Well Pero, as far as I know, there aren't many Hawks fans here so you're welcome to be my nemesis come playoff time. The past 2 years have taught me to despise Chicago's team and that Chelsea Dagger song may as well be hardwired to implants that release bleach inside my cranial cavity cuz I nearly die every time I hear it played. I can't bring myself to wish you luck in this matter but I hope you enjoy the playoffs (mostly on account of the Penguins doing well).

Sorry to hear about the reffing in that league. No fun that way at all. Players should decide games, not refs

If Calgary played as well before christmas/firing Sutter as they did after it would've been a different story. I think if we keep playing that well we'll at least give you guys a run for the division title next year. If we beat you guys next game (that game has absolutely no effect on standings) we will have 95 points and still not make playoffs. What up with that! Maybe if Edmonton and Colorado didn't suck so much everyone else wouldn't have so many fucking points. 95 points would put us 6th in the east. Oh well, next year!

PS, Vancouver is fucked first round. :P

    You're delusional.
Guaranteed we make it to the 3rd round minimum this year!

I'd ask if you wanted to make it a little more interesting, but that sounds like a hastle being in different cities.

    Quoted and confirmed!

So, to be clear... Canucks get past 2nd round and I'm $20 richer on cruise (or vice versa)?

    As per PM:

Canucks out 1st round as Joey predicted = Rob pays $20

Canucks get to 3rd round as Rob predicted = Joey pays $20

Canucks out in 2nd round is a draw

Canucks win Stanley Cup = Joey pays $20 and wears a Canucks jersey, t-shirt or hat to the pre-party or some other forum function on the cruise so we can get a pic together

Just looked at the standings. With 2 games left there is still 5 teams that Vancouver could potentially be playing first round. I'm hoping for Chicago :headbanger:

Haha... it's a whale. An Orca to be precise.

Oh, and that would be Ryan Kesler who I witnessed getting a hat trick tonight to get his 40th goal!! What a performance to go along with another Luongo shutout!

Calgary on Saturday and then on to the 'real' season!! I'm quite possibly MORE stoked than Laura is to see Rammstein! :headbanger:

Every playoff matchup solidified except for Canucks'. Chicago lost to Detroit this morning so Dallas can pass them for the last spot by beating Minnesota.

Otherwise, Hawks are in. Currently 1-0 Minnesota and I can't even decide which result to root for lol. I wanna face the Hawks so the 'Nucks can get the proverbial monkey of their backs but our record vs Dallas is much better and would likely be an easier series. Either way we have lots of traveling ahead of us in the first round as usual.

Can't wait for Wednesday!!! :headbanger:
