So the US is pretty much sunk in the WHJ unless Denmark pull out a miraculous 2 period and come back from 3 goals down against the Fins. Not gonna happen methinks. Should be interesting to see which team Canada puts out on the ice, full squad or rest some of their big guns?

Congrats to team Sweden on an amazing comeback from down 3-0 to Russia half way through the game to a 4-3 final in OT.
Canada's gonna have a much tougher time with the rest of their opponents than the competition they faced so far.

Sure you can win 7-in-a-row in the East, but come to the West and get handled.![]()
Only meeting this year. I have bragging rights!
ShoreSlayer wrote:Well, oddly, Luongo was the only one to show up vs the bottom feeder Kings last night and we got our asses handed to us. Got my HT in the bag by the end of the 2nd period
Here's my prediction Ryan: Dallas vs Vancouver for the West and Philly vs Rangers for the East. I may get my heart torn out but at least I won't be golfing as early as you

Yeah and you picked the 'Nucks to win the cup in the Final last time. Your predictions mean jack squat
ShoreSlayer wrote:HTC going great so far. First 2 games in the 3rd period and no penalty to Perry and Dallas kicking Boston's furry asses!! Keep 'em both that way and I'm 2 for 2 going into the Canuck game the watching of which is my NYE excitement seeing as the US has brought nothing to this tournament and Canada are killing them as I watch the first period (PVR).
C'mon hockey gods. Ya killed me in game 7 of the playoffs. Let me have this last day of the year k?![]()
Good luck to you all in HTC and to your NHL teams in 2012. 2011 was more fun thanks to this thread. Oh and, for that good luck bit, that's for everyone but Ryan's Bruins. Have I mentioned I hate those guys?

LOL, at a guess I would say WIN perhaps? Based on the last question 3.

I'm not as emotionally invested in them, or anyone in the East, especially since we have seen them so rarely. Hopefully, the realignment will help with this.
I also forgot to mention how interesting I found the Canadian fans booing the US in the Juniors to be. There seems to be real dislike of the US. Meanwhile, when it's Canadians in the US, we mainly react with indifference, or mostly rooting for them. Seems like the Canadians have an inferiority complex, while the US is just "meh" about Canada.
Not really looking forward to the Czech/Canada back-to-back. I guess the important one is to be the Czechs and hope they win a tie-breaker, since Finland gets their bye (Denmark) today.
Reminds me of Montreal fans booing the US national anthem before a game against the Bruins. The Boston fans one upped them and gave Oh, Canada a standing ovation.
Stars and Bruins tomorrow, Dan. I hope your team gets destroyed.

I love heckling opposing fans but there are limits. I'd say stuff playfully but calling him really derogatory terms and throwing biers and pushing him goes way over the line though. I'm sure it happens in other places too but doesn't make it right. There are supposedly always fights that break out in the stands too. Needless to say, Boston and Montreal hate each otherNever been to a Bruins/Habs game but I'd certainly love to. Maybe even invade your team's arena up in Montreal

I didn't have a problem when I followed the Stars on a West Coast swing. Didn't epect much in Anaheim and LA, but was a little wary going into San Jose, especially since I was wearing a Belfour jersey.
If I was going to do something like wearing a Montreal sweater in Boston, or vice versa, I would probably wear some adult diapers to avoid the pissers.![]()
I actually know someone who did this for a Stanley Cup Finals game. Didn't work out as planned.
ShoreSlayer wrote:I love the classic
Went under on the total shots question though cuz the ice conditions are always less tha optimal and lots of pucks bounce wide of the net
ShoreSlayer wrote:Shots/Saves... Similar concept. Faulty logic on my part either way lol. Philly has 12 shots in the 1st period

Unrest? That's a bit extreme, but hey, you're a Bruins fans, after all...![]()
Well the thing is, the media are trying to shake things a bit this year I guess, since we're probably gonna miss the playoffs. That said, most people don't like the fact that the coach can't speak a word of French, and I can only agree. I know it's not a reality Americans (or even English Canadians, sometimes) understand, but we are a french-speaking nation. While many of us can speak/write/understand English, some don't, and it's their right, since we function in French in our everyday lives. Hockey being a religion in here, it's kind of absurd to have all post-game explanations from the coach in English, so it's nothing against Cunneyworth, it's only really a matter of respect to the french-speaking fans in Quebec. Anyway, there will be a new coach at the end of the year, so I'm not really worried.
But there is no unrest, I'd simply call it an annoyance.
Oh, and Plekanec and Subban got into a fight during today's practice. God I hate Subban (probably at least one point we'll agree on), there, I said it.
scyll wrote:I really wouldn't care what language the coach speaks as long as he's qualified by being a good coach and he can reach the players. Then again, I'm not a Habs fan so I tend to be practical about things
