I personally am a huge Brodeur fan. The guy is an amazing goalie and has one hell of a career. I was hoping he would get 1 more cup before retiring but as an Oiler fan I was cheering for the Kings. They needed to be rewarded for eliminating the Canucks

I don't know about the rest of you but now that NHL is done, my summer won't be that boring. There's EURO2012 football, after that it's summer Olympics and before I know it, it will be late August and major football leagues will kick off. Let's all hope there won't be another lock-out.

Yup! Lots of good sports stuff this summer.

ESPN used to have hockey. Quite a bit of it, actually. I used to love watching NHL Tonight. Before the lockout, ESPN was still showing lots of content, but when the season was lost, ESPN, due to worries about the league's recovery from the lost season, decided to not aggressively pursue a further broadcast deal with the NHL (their deal expired either right before or during the lockout season), instead offering the league a lowball offer. The NHL decided to then give broadcast rights to NBC. A couple of years ago, that initial NBC contract expired so there was a new bidding war. ESPN attempted to get hockey back but the NHL again chose NBC over ESPN. ESPN (which is owned by Disney) went into a big hissy fit over it and now they pretend that hockey doesn't even exist. Don't get me started on how terrible ESPN has gotten since Disney took over. It's not about the sports anymore with them.

I like the NBC broadcasts, but I don't like that NBC showed most of the playoff games on NBC Sports Network. That channel is unavailable for many people and definitely helped lead to very low ratings for the Final. Of course, the poor hockey markets of the two teams involved didn't help much either.

I wish the union and the owners would stay away from the media during negotiations. The media isn't exactly responsible and will spin all kinds of crap over whatever is released to them, which in my opinion, will only make things worse. An ugly negotiation = page views, unfortunately. The league would be really, really stupid to have another work stoppage, either via strike or lockout. Hopefully, if they don't come to a deal, they will continue to operate under the terms of the expiring CBA until they come up with an agreement.

My team just agreed to terms with its starting goalie, removing him from getting any offers from other teams, so that's good. Wondering about the 1-year deal for him though. Could be worries about his injury history, but I think it's just because of the uncertainty in the labor deal that it's just a stopgap until they get a new CBA then he'll get a new contract for the next one. I hope.

Luongo's gonna get traded though, isn't he? At least even if he stays the Canucks can at least get some kind of result for his $5 million cap hit, which is much more than the B's can say about Thomas Really hope a low spending team can take him off our hands to reach the cap floor. If the B's unload Thomas and put Savard on LTIR (expected), then that would free up $9 million.
