It varies a lot by team. Our tickets for the Coyotes are in the upper level between the red line and center ice and they are about $40 per game. Single tickets aren't on sale yet so I'm not sure how much the tickets will be normally as I assume we get a discount for the package. The price has gone up. Those same seats in Boston probably run around $75 at least. Wouldn't be surprised if it is $100.

If any of you hockey folks want to do a pick 'em game for the upcoming NFL season, Rob and I started a 70K group: http://70000tons.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2744

Should work with your ESPN/TSN accounts.

No response yet. He's still weighing his options (waiting for the Jamison deal to be finalized, which could be waiting on the CBA). A few teams have offered him contracts but he's still playing the waiting game. Buffalo offered even more than Van did so now Sabres fans are convinced he's going to Buffalo.

Doan's agent has indicated an actual deadline for Phoenix now: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/coyotes/articles/20120823cba-dealings-add-new-wrinkle-phoenix-coyotes-shane-doan-equation.html

He wants a deal before the new CBA (or the lockout) comes.

Probably not the place for it, but I loved the movie "Goon". And I can no longer let something as significant as "69" days until the election go without comment. Why? "Because it's hilarious."

Kate and I watched Goon not long ago. I didn't really like it. Not sure if it was the acting, the script, the storytelling, but it just didn't appeal to me even though we watched the whole thing. Wouldn't watch it again. It is funny and fitting that the guy who the movie is based on spent some time teaching Bruins players how to defend themselves

Hah, I didn't love the movie but it did have some parts that made me laugh.

So Greg Jamison (guy who is trying to buy the Yotes) was on a news show today and said he's ready to move forward with the deal and buy the team, but now the City of Glendale has decided to make some changes in the arena deal. will this ever end?

Okay, so yes, I overstated my love for the movie, but for some reason that scene is so silly, it still makes me laugh.

I can definitely understand why many people don't care for the movie.

Ugh! I picked quite the year to get into hockey, what with ownership issues, possibly losing our captain and now a possible lockout

No clue how Vancouver could be ranked beneath Ottawa and, even more so, Winnipeg. Can't say I'm gonna put a lot of stock in their rating system although I'm sure many of their picks are a better reflection of it's accuracy than this particular one (and my personal feeling about it lol).

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised by a lot of the ratings. I think they put way too much emphasis on ticket prices and bang for the buck. I would think the best teams are the ones with top notch ownership, rabid fanbases, winning traditions and good fan relations. Rabid fanbases create a market for high ticket prices.

I'd like to know where they got the beer prices in the Preds rating. $6.75, for cat's piss maybe, anything decent is more $8 - 9.

Doan signs 4 year, $21 mill contract with Phoenix. There's a $2 mill signing bonus in there as well. I'm assuming the players keep the signing bonus if a lockout occurs?

Definitely gives you confidence that the latest issue between Jamison and City of Glendale (I hate that city) should be worked out as well. If Shane thought it was going to fall through, he possibly would have signed with Vancouver instead. Yay!

I actually prefer missing 'part' of a season as it's too damn long to begin with imho but I hate when they can't get their shit together and end up scrapping entire seasons. Especially since it seems to be becoming more and more of a regular occurrence :bitch:

Most of what I've read indicates that the writers tend to think the season will start sometime in January. If they try to squeeze in a condensed season like the NBA did after its lockout, the product will suffer (NBA had a distinct lack of quality for much of the season due to the missed time). Another cancelled season would just be awful. Losing part of the preseason wouldn't be too bad, though the first few weeks will have some rusty play. Don't want to miss too much time. We have tickets for a lot of games!

Last lockout in 04-05 the two sides didn't even meet for over 3 months after the lockout started. That would be fucking stupid imho.

Out of nowhere, the Bruins extended Lucic before the Lockout! :headbanger: $6mil per year is a lot for him though. I don't think they're going to have a very good cap situation over the next couple of years but I've got faith in the front office.

That locks up their young core of forwards, Lucic, Seguin and Marchand.

Is it just me, or is it extremely strange to see so many signings just before the lockout?

I was trying to figure it out from an owner's perspective, but I tend to have different theories on team management than most. (What are the odds?)

I was trying to figure it out from an owner's perspective, but I tend to have different theories on team management than most. (What are the odds?)

Kinda hard to cry about the previous CBA with all the signings the owners squeezed in before the lockout. They seemed to have no problem giving players their contracts under it. It's good for the players if new restrictions come in the next one, whenever the hell they finally agree to something. I just hope no games are missed. The lockout actually helps the Coyotes a little bit. We met with some fans today and we all agree that the lockout actually buys the City of Glendale and the Greg Jamison group more time to rework their arena deal and then for the Jamison group to close the ownership deal with the league. We also found out what they were hoping to rework and I feel less animosity towards the city, though I'm still not happy about their timing.
See you all on 70K 2014! :deathhorns:

So Malkin and Gonchar have signed with the KHL for this season. There are rumors of quite a number of other players with tentative agreements with Euro clubs as well. Losing the league MVP for this year is not good pr for the NHL. I just hope if there is a season it's not an episode of "The Replacements". Malkin signed for 65% of his salary.
Life would be tragic if it weren't funny.
