Can't wait to try that one. Unfortunately, its availability has been very low in Gamefly, so I keep getting then next game on the list instead. Still, I've now got a pretty hefty list of action games, so at least I can move down the list at a brisk pace instead of spending 2+ weeks on RPG after RPG. I have the 2-game arrangement, so I try to have one action game and one RPG at all times.

So Skyrim players, what's the verdict?

I wouldn't mind picking something up that gives me the sort of storyline and freedom of World of Warcraft without the need for time consuming item/kill grinds and huge time commitment required to see the best the game has to offer. Do ya think this would fit the bill?

I'm off to buy Skyrim and the anniversary box set thing of Elder Scrolls IV seeing as I never played it.

well lets see yesterday i got Skyrim and i have the following reveiw HOLY FUCK!!!!! so far i have killed a dragon and then shortly there after i was hit so hard by a giant that i could see past the tallest local mountain peaks. i will estimate i was 1000-2000 ft in the air before my game started to reload cause i had died >.< also this might be the prettiest game i have ever played in terms of graphics. i would also like to say i spent almost 2 hours in game today chasing butterflies and picking flowers .... that is all

also The Elder Scrolls games have always been beyond epic the worlds are massive and time consuming and there are so many things to explore i have played 12 hours thus far and so far have only done step one of the main quest. :3drunks:

Yeah, I ended up just getting the new one and not bothering with any past editions. Maybe another time. Currently trying to decide what race n' class to go with. Guess I'll just go ahead without putting too much thought into it then change later if I regret what my first instinct gets me.

Will check out Skyrim later, no rush as I hadn't been head over heels with Elder Scrolls. I'm playing Brutal Legend again, going into the "I'm going to unlock everything and complete every single side quest" mode with it this time around.

I'm really teetering on if I should pick up Skyrim or not. Very hyped, very positive reviews from a lot of people... I too have never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games, but from what I'm told, that's not completely necessary.
My work partner, who took this week off solely so he could pick it up at midnight and subsequently play the shit out of it, texted me the other night and asked me where he could get some mead - I guess there's lots of mention of it in the game, and he now wants to try some. I found that pretty amusing.

I managed to squeeze in a couple ours of The Old Republic beta this weekend. Not nearly enough time to judge how it's going to be, but it makes me more excited about it.

Well, I'll offer a negative review for what it's worth.

While it does live up to a lot of the hype in terms of being a vast world with lots of options in terms of meandering through the storyline and exploring at will, I'm a bit bored with it already. I know it wasn't supposed to rival WoW as it's not an mmorpg but I hoped that it would rival it, at least in the areas in which they're similar and I can't say it does. In particular, although the battles are challenging in their own way, I find the interface and mechanics of battle a bit boring/unimaginative at this point. That could be because I haven't quite found my rhythm yet and that there's a learning curve to discovering all that can be done with it. Basically, I figured I'd spend all day at work salivating in anticipation of getting back to it and ended up thinking about GTA IV just as much as Skyrim.

That being said, I did play some more when I got home and found a fight that I've been unable to win at lvl 7 so it's nice to have hit a challenge that appears to be forcing me to backtrack and lvl up a bit more before heading back in :twisted:

Fair points. I really like the way they added in favourites, makes the battles more seemless I find. I can understand that if you haven't played the other elder scrolls games that it could be tedious or even intimidating to get used to the system. Honestly though, I don't find it that different from Oblivion. Sort of a huge expansion pack. Graphics aren't even any better I don't think. Exploration is more fun and they added a few things and brought back a few things from Morrowind that I really enjoyed, like Enchant. I for one, am enjoying the hell out of it. 20 hours and 6 dragons in :deathhorns:

Hm, I need to see what it looks like on PC. 360 it wasn't mindblowingly impressive like Oblivion was but it's the same system so I wasn't expecting it to. Take screens or something, I want to see Skyrim in all it's glory.

Oh and, you aren't really playing Skyrim unless you are listening to folk metal whilst. Eluveitie or Equilibrium will do.

Okay Skyrim pros, please talk me in off a ledge here :shock:

Grinding my little pixelated ass all over the province killing everything that moves and spending WAY too much time throwing out looted items cuz I can only carry 300 in weight. Doing my best to only throw out the least valuable of stuff of course. Then I get back to a town to find that none of the stuff can be sold for the values that they're showing as being worth in my inventory. Every vendor I go to RUNS OUT OF MONEY before I finish selling everything I want to and once I have sold it all to various vendors (nice that only some buy certain things but not others), I'm still packing about 220/300 in weight just with the gear I still want to be able to use when I set out again :cry:

Where's my bigger backpack? Wagon? WagonTRAIN? There's hardly enough vendors out there to offload after every few fights so I'm just supposed to throw stuff out and end up making diddly squat for all my efforts and THEN hit up the trainers who want HUGE amounts of money to upgrade my skills? hey getting a stock 300 carry load is awesome for my mage i am use to have about 100-150 in Morrowind and Oblivion and tho Joey more than likely told you already i think its pick pocket at near max with the talent unlocked for an extra 100 carry. other option is if you wear heavy armour there is a talent somewhere in the tree that makes it weigh nothing i think. the last option i can think of right after crawling out of bed is buy a house. its the choice i went with bought one in Whiterun since it is the central town you usually just have to do the quest for the jarl to unlock the right to buy one. as for vendors running out of money it refills every day so sometimes the wait 24 hours feature is damn handy. i think that covers most points and Joey i will try to get some picks up over the next few days and hope that they do my system justice :beerhorns:

In Oblivion, I had to use potions and the "Feather" spell quite a bit to get back from any dungeon with loot. There were other more powerful spells, but Feather really opened my eyes as to how they could be used.

Yeah there are always work arounds but I usually just decide taht I can't take everything and decide what I want to take. Oh and a lot of the time I don't have as much to sell cus whenever I find something enchanted I destroy it at an arcane enchanter if I don't already have that power.

Finished the Evil play-through of inFamous 2. Really good game, for the most part, but it still had some of the bugginess of the original. Trying to decide if I want to do a Good play-through, or just move on to other games.

Definitely going to be getting Skyrim, but I want to clear my schedule before I start it. I still have to go through RE2 (2nd play-through), RE3, RECVX, RE4, LA Noire, Dead Island, Rage, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, and Arkham City. Damn. I guess it's a good thing I don't have to work. I doubt I can get all this done in time for Mass Effect 3. And I know there's other stuff I'm not thinking about.

Well tahts a bit of a generalization but in general laptops don't have high end video cards.

No way. I have a relatively cheap n' crappy Acer laptop and used to dual-box WoW with it no problem.

Of course it didn't look absolutely stunning but it was smooth and clean with settings up high and looked fine considering what it was.

Depends on the laptop and the game really. As long as you get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, even if its just mediocre, youre pretty much good to go with most modern games. Since most games for the PC are developed for consoles then piss poorly ported to PC a lot of the games will run. You might need to turn down the settings on some, but it depends on the game. I lucked out and got a first gen broken lenovo i7 laptop with a dedicated graphics card. All I had to do was buy and replace the LCD screen, but more of my issues ended up being with ATI being total garbage when it came to drivers. I am using the laptop mainly as a docking station since I have an external keyboard, mouse, and 1080p monitor.

I can bot (tehe, nerdrage away) 2 accounts of wow no problem, but wow doesnt take anything for requirements.

Okay guys, I just threw my fate and $60 to the wind and got Skyrim. It's installing right now. If I can't get it to run smoothly, I'll just get a new computer for my birthday, or call my computer genius friend JJ to help me build a better one. Can't wait to play it. The opening theme music alone is enough to own this game. It gave me a serious eargasm of epicness.

i always say PC but then again i am a firm believer in the statement. Consoles are for people who can't afford real computers. also in the next few weeks Bethesda will be releasing the mod tools for the game and i know you can mod the shit outta your game on the PC but i am not sure about either console.

I have a very respectable rig, but I opted for the PS3 for this one. I sit over a computer 8+ hours a day for work, FPS (BF3) and Strategy(League of Legends) games for the PC as of now, but I like laying back in bed to play Skyrim.
