    Anyone else NOT drink?

    by vainglory » Mon May 03, 2010 10:54 am

I know I know its sorta not metal.
But I already drank my share and I'm cut off for life.

The Heathens coming with me are all sober too... wonder if we'll be the only ones...

In fact, I'm not much into drinking while onboard. I'd enjoy it better being sober.

None for me thanks. Besides, what's beer without that other commodity which I have no intention of trying to bring on board or through US customs

For this trip, I'll gladly just OD on my current drug of choice... METAL!!! :beerhorns:

I only drink wine with dinner (occasionally). Started about 8 years ago since it has health benefits. Never been drunk, no plans to either.

Being METAL isn't about drinking and drugs, it's all about the music.

It's all about personal choice sir. My reasons are mine alone and are in no way a criticism of those who choose otherwise. Honestly, I'm jealous that you can continue to do so at "our" age. You're made of tougher stuff (more resilient mind & liver) than me :D

I myself am a moderate or simply an occasional social drinker (last time being a couple of months ago). I've certainly gotten drunk a time or two, but not the sloppy fall down comatose sort. More like super smartass really, so I'm no angry drunk for sure. I know my limits and never particularly exceed them, so no memory erasure for me.

I don't particularly care for beer, so all that discussion about which ones will be stocked aboard is fairly irrelevant to me. Maybe just a bit o' rum or vodka when the mood strikes.

I'm sure I'll probably throw back a few drinks on the ship when the time is right. Just get a good buzz and let the good times roll :heavydrink:

In the end, my answer is that most of the time I don't drink, but when I do, I make the most of it without being stupid

Me too.I enjoy geting drunk but i love getting wasted.
Sometimes i don't drink at festivals and gigs.Depends on my cash situation or hangover.
Even at Metalway last year most of the days i didn't really drink.
Seen the more bands play at that festival sober than i did at any other festival while i was wasted oddly enough.Example being me going to Wacken and seeing 2 bands playing.

    I guess I wouldn't be much of a Finn if I didn't drink. :D
To be honest, Captain Metal pretty much summed it up for me too. I'm not much of a beer drinker either, a couple will do, but am a sucker for overly sweetened drinks(some might know the Swedish Rekorderlig Strawberry-Lime cider, yummy!). That might explain why I haven't had a hangover in over ten years(even if sometimes the amount of booze drank in one night has been literally gallons). Oh, I almost had a hangover at last summer's Metalcamp(Slovenian festival)!

and there is the added benefit of not having a $500+ drink tab to settle up on Friday, $6 premium beers and $8 margaritas add up quickly...

Do you mind if Vainglory and I take up ringside seats for that one? Entertainment for the ages I'm sure. And you'll probably both stay awake longer than me!!

I'm putting in my vote for Beer Beer or Happy Little Boozer by Korpiklaani as the soundtrack for this incident.

and there is the added benefit of not having a $500+ drink tab to settle up on Friday, $6 premium beers and $8 margaritas add up quickly...[/quote]

I was thinking more like $200 a day for alcohol (don't forget to tip your bartenders and waitresses) If your going to be on a metal cruise why NOT drink? It's not like you have to drive anywhere. As long as you can crawl back to your cabin without falling off the ship your fine. :beerwink:
2015 wishlist: Mercyful Fate, Meliah Rage, Agalloch, Anathema, Armored Saint, Warlock, Sahg, Labyrinth, Incantation, Accept, Savatage, Goatwhore, Satan, Bolt Thrower, Tad Morose, Krokus, TT Quick, Eldritch

I think it's super important that altercations and rowdiness that negatively affects others (All other rowdiness A-OK) are kept to a minimum; This trip is too expensive to allow drunk assholes to ruin a good time!
I'll be drinking a fair amount most likely.. but I play nice!

I agree, I've had a few drunk assholes ruin my day at shows.
