They have to lift the fire-ban. So far there is a ban on all fireworks and fires around town. Let's hope for some rain between now and then! i love fireworks! and yes downtown normally has them!

The journey is about to begin! Today we are heading up to North Conway, New Hampshire in the Mount Washington Valley. Awesome little tourist town. On the way we will stop in Meredith by Lake Winnipesaukee. Staying in North Conway tonight then heading back down to Southern NH tomorrow night. Monday morning, we start heading west.

Yup! Hyundai it is.

Made it to North Conway. No internet access and phone is spotty but trying to squeeze a post in here. The drive up was kinda long. I just wanted to get up there. Traffic was slowish but moving. We stopped for lunch at a place in Meredith by the lake. Service was incredibly slow and there were some kids attempting to sing show tunes in the plaza. Badly. My ears still hurt.

Just got back from Moat Mountain Brewery. They had some very good beers! The blueberry was very nice, with a good balance of blueberry to beer taste. The stout had quite a chocolatey taste. The brown ale was fantastic, nutty and smokey. Delicious.

Meeting up with some relatives in town tomorrow then driving back down south via the scenic Kancamagus Highway. Until then!

Indeed! We just got back from up north. The Kancamagus drive was very nice, although we couldn't find the damn turnoff for the hike to the waterfall. Signage sucked and we forgot to pull out the map. :oops:

Oh well. That was a fun little trip. Kate tried Moxie. We had delicious pizza at this awesome place that uses only local ingredients for their pies. Tonight it's off to a friend's for a bbq and then loading up the car for Monday morning.

Probably a bad sign for the trip: We were both pretty worn out after the 2+ hour drive today. Doesn't look good since we have 14 hours of driving tomorrow :shock:

So we've been through New Hampshire, Massachussetts (stopped and visited Madmetalprof for some breakfast), Connecticut, New York and now we've got a million miles to go through middle of nowhere Pensylvania, though the town we went through was very cute! Not too much Mooyagi gasage so far!

We didn't stop for lunch. Damn. Would've been good to try a local favorite.

The drive so far has been pretty good. I'm ready for the day to be over, though. Kate's driving the final leg. We've got about two hours to go. Left at 6am. Beat the morning traffic getting out of NH and into MA. I drove the first 10+ hours. Breakfast was good. Bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes and New England maple syrup. Traffic has been great. Lots of large trucks and trailors. A couple of construction related slowdowns but not too bad.

I never thought we'd get out of Pennsylvania. That was a huge stretch of nothing to see. We got our fill of trees and hills back in New Hampshire. :lol:

I thought Pennsylvania's roads were in bad shape but Ohio is much worse. Stupid Ohio! The drivers on this current stretch suck too. Hopefully we make it to the hotel quickly. Tomorrow it's about a 12 hour drive to Topeka, Kansas. We're going through Indianapolis, St Louis and Kansas City on the way. Looking forward to trying to find some great BBQ for lunch on the way.

My little Hyundai is doing a fantastic job with gas mileage.

The roads weren't too narrow but the were plenty of cornfields. Lots of prominently displayed crosses right off the interstate and a few Jesus billbroads :roll:

On our way through Missouri now. It's been a pretty boring day. The first leg out of Ohio into Indiana wasn't bad. Indianapolis had a decent little skyline. From there, though, there's been nothing to see. Illinois was nothing but fields. Unfortunately, our route bypassed St. Louis so we didn't get a chance to see it. We only went through a little chunk of the city. Oh well. Just refueled and had some BBQ at a little hole-in-the-wall BBQ shack. Wasn't too bad but nothing amazing. Lots of cops in Missouri. Keeps the flow of traffic at a slower pace. :bitch:

Hopefully we'll be in Topeka in about 4 hours and in less of a grumpy mood. Stupid Ohio. :lol:

Hitting our only tolls of the trip when we pass through Kansas City.
