Well, if you've been following the Don't Forget About Skype thread, you know that a few more ppl have been using it lately and we've had some success with group chats. Not sure yet what the limit is on the number of ppl that can participate in one chat simultaneously but we aim to find out. Right off the bat, keep in mind that if you're at all shy about being on camera, it's not an issue as the group chats offer only voice, not video. But anyways, a bunch of us have been on in the past couple days and we've chosen a day to shoot for an actual organized, large forumite gathering.
Since New Year's Eve is on a Saturday night this year, we figured December 30th would work for a lot of people as it's a Friday night but the one night of that weekend that, if anyone's likely to be sticking around home at all, that would be the night. In speaking with people from Europe and trying to calculate the time zone stuff, it's obvious that this will just have to be an all day event and people can drop in and out as they're able.
So, with that, you are all formally invited to get your asses on skype, fix your sound card or motherboard issues *coughpetercough* and join us anytime between 0900 a.m. PST and onward on Friday December 30th.
We'll just basically sit around and talk about the cruise and metal in general and take turns playing songs for the group (not so loud as to drown everyone out though plz lol) and bring in the day before new year 70,000 Tons of Metal style!
Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there. Maybe we can crash the Skype servers!!
