Obviously. And not just every thread, but after just about every one of your posts.

I highly doubt that. ;)

You highly under-estimate me. ;) Although, admittedly, some of the same stuff just gets recycled into new situations.
Never take anything I say seriously.

Peter Jackson just announced that The Hobbit will be a trilogy... might be slightly overkill?

Wow. The story has a lot to it, but 3 films sounds like a bit much. I wonder if he doesn't want to cut anything out at all. That, or the studio told him to do 3 movies because a trilogy would make more $$$.

Probably the second option.

And maybe that way we won't get two 3 hour-ish movies, but rather three 2 and a half-ish? Maybe even shorter. Not that that's necessarily a good thing.

I am actually planing to dress-up as a Dwarf for this one. Ideally, I'll convince 12 of my buddies and we can go as the 13 dwarves. It's hard to find so many commited geeks in a social circle, though.

He said he'd put some focus on things that were alluded to in the book, and some stuff mentioned in the LOTR appendices.

It was most likely his own idea. It might seem like complete overkill, but I trust Peter Jackson to know what he's doing, as a Tolkien fan himself, he will want to tell the story from a fans perspective. If he viewed the final cuts of the first 2 films and decided more of the story needed to be told, he wouldn't want to leave it out, and I don't think he'd listen to the studio's advice to make a 3rd film if it was their idea just to simply make money, he loves the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit too much to do that.

I know in the Lord of the Rings he left out a lot of scenes which wouldn't help with the progression of the story anyway, I don't think he'd do it unless he felt it was necessary, probably my favourite parts in the book with Tom Bombadil weren't even considered for filming, apparently.

If I'm not mistaken, Tom Bombadil was among Tolkien's favorite characters.

My favourite character too, but I can see why they'd leave that part out of the film.
