Because I've always wanted to see Canada and it was during the Olympics. Bonus!
Also... It's cheaper to go to Canada than The Netherlands.

Touche!
Not sure where I was. Probably sitting here thinking I wouldn't be doing anything exciting in January 2011 as I hadn't even heard of 70K of Metal yet![]()
That's cool though... So, you followed them from Alberta to Victoria but had 5 days to kill in Van? Or were they traveling East so you started in Van and then went to Victoria and then Calgary? Not the best time of year to visit us in terms of weather but I hope ya had a good time and met some cool ppl.

Not my first rock concert, but first picture of me at a gig, age 16: "Superbowl of Rock" starring Peter Frampton (Frampton Comes Alive! tour), UFO, Rick Derringer and Bob Seger, Soldier Field, Chicago, Summer 1977. The picture was taken before the bands started, since the yellow awning is still down.
Wearing the first black concert shirt I ever bought (Frampton Summer Tour 1977) - picture is from 1978 I think.
At a Grateful Dead gig, Alpine Valley, Wisconsin, Summer 1982
Great memories, great times.
Back to the future....another picture from my last night in Europe August 8, 2010 - fun Aussie and German guys I met in Itzehoe.

Three of my favorite lines from songs come to mind...
Life's been good to me so far - Joe Walsh
Lately it occurs to me, what a long, strange trip its been - Grateful Dead
Still crazy after all these years - Paul Simon

P.S. A lot of young people probably don't know or barely know much about Peter Frampton, but he was HUGE in 1976-77. Frampton Comes Alive! was the best-selling album of 1976 - sold over 6 million in the U.S. - lol, of course I had one of them, was voted "Album of the Year" in the 1976 Rolling Stone readers poll, and it stayed on the Billboard charts for 97 weeks. Likewise, 2 of the other bands on that tour had recently released killer albums: UFO - Lights Out (Michael Schenker on lead guitar) and Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Night Moves. (owned both of those too)
