For me, hands down, it was George Carlin. That guy was just so spot on and venomous that you couldn't help but laugh hysterically.

As soon as I saw the title I thought of Mitch Hedberg.
Glad to see he was the first post!

yup.. "He loves you, and HE NEEDS MONEY!" A GREAT bit, Carlin was certainly the master of "This is reality, and it's funny shit ain't it!?" I just dug Mitch's delivery, always made me almost piss myself.

Andy Kaufman has got to be my favourite although all of the above mentioned are great. Mighty Mouse sketch on SNL is classic Kaufman. People thought his cancer & death were all a big stunt.

Does anyone think Nathan on South Park looks a little like Mitch Hedberg?

I think he's supposed to sound (and maybe look) like Marlon Brando from the godfather but I can see the Mitch resemblance from the shades
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

I saw Richard Jeni and George Carlin in concert once and both of them are awesome. Carlin is probably my all-time favorite, but Richard Pryor, Robert Schimmel, Kinison, and Dangerfield are also greats!

Carlin's take on "Guys Named Todd" is freakin' hilarious.

    George Carlin.

I got to see him live 3 times, once in the front row and they go down as 3 of some of my favorite memories ever. I do not want him dead any longer. Hurts my heart.

1.Rodney Dangerfield. My favorite comedian of all time.

2.Sam Kinneson - My 2nd favorite. His Tonite show appearance was priceless. Johnny Carson LOVED him, I wasnt expecting that.

    Honorable mention:
    Henny Youngman
    George Carlin
    Richard Pryor

as far as I know it was heart failure which could be contributed to his lifestyle, 36 years old, what a shame
