Valentines Day stuff

Not doing anything VD related. Wife and I got into a fight, so decided to blow it off and save the $$$$

Hah, valentine's day... a day where most couples feel forced to show affection for one another, and singles get made to feel like shit for not being with anyone. Probably the lamest "holiday" of the year, imho.

I will admit though, since Valentine's day was pretty early on when I first started dating my lady, I wanted to make a good impression, so I did go all out and get a dozen roses and took her out to a really nice dinner and all that stuff. Afterwards, I told her that I'd not be doing anything else for her for that specific day, because it's a bullshit day.

Yeah, girls suck sometimes. Guys suck sometimes too though. Everyone just sucks. (not the March 14 kind of suck)

So, some of you think that February 14 is only about (for) the gals and March 14 is all about (for) the guys? Pssst...I think that both days (and all days, really) should be equally for and about (not to mention be appealing to) both the guy and gal. I think a lot of this stereotype stuff messes people up.

I agree that it should be, but in practice that's just kindof how things wound up. That, and those girls that can't do anything for themselves get this strange sense of entitlement on valentine's day, but luckily there aren't any of those here

To be fair, it's not just arbitrarily made up. There was actually a guy named St. Valentine and I'm sure you've all heard the story of the forbidden marriage and the last letter and stuff. In honour of him we're supposed to celebrate our love and it hasn't really been perverted that much by modern culture the way that christmas has.

(1969-1974) I thought of it today when I was looking at the Hello Kitty gifs because some of those had rainbows and sparkles and such....which led me to thinking about the opening theme song for Love American Style with all the fireworks. I LOVED that show as a kid...all the situations and innuendos were *very* intriguing to 8-13 year old me. Ha - in retrospect, that show was SO mild and tame compared to sitcoms nowadays.

Anyway, that was a fun trip down memory lane.

Bah - I'm still at work (late shift for me on Tuesdays) - my Valentine's gift(s) will have to wait a few more hours.

Wow. I love that show, one of my faves. I would love to see the re-runs. Also liked "The Love Boat" or what about "The Flying Nun"? Thought that shit was real. As well as Dark Shadows, and now it looks so cheesy. lol
