Anyone else noticed that the boards ( not broads) are covered in Canadian sponsors? Telus,Canadian Tire,Royal Bank etc. I thought mayve they were there only for the Canadian games, but watching the Russian game, they are still there.

I like him :) If the States didn't have such a great goalie, the Canuck boys would have steamrolled them on the scoreboard.

I like that you like him. Go Bruins prospects! :viking:

I wonder how the tv ratings are in each country. Maybe Canada just has an extreme majority of its viewers.

Czech vs USa should be great game.. both teams will be fired up.
Switz vs Russia--can they be a giant killer? The Swiss play a very defensive, close checking game.

Guess I'll get up at 2:30 am tomorrow to watch hockey before work!

Holy fucking hell, minus 31 degrees outside! Walking from the doors of my work to my buddy's truck to drive home was brutal. Time to warm up with a bagel, a beer, and the rest of the Czech vs US game

From an article on the IIHF website:
"We’ve got to come home with a medal," said Canada's captain, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. "It won’t be the one we wanted to come home with, but we’ve got to do it for our country."

Noble, but I think they should do it for themselves. We're all sitting around just watching, they're the ones who worked their asses off.

Saturday should be a good day! It's always entertaining to watch when Canada and Russia play each other, and the Sweden vs USA game could go either way.

All the experts are mouthing off about everything. Probably the same "hockey parents" that cause so much shit. Luckily, my parents were so embarassed to watch any of my teams play, they never showed up

Defn Canada showed no emotion at all. Gotta work Saturday, so I 'll try my CCCP satellite feed at work!!

I gotta say Emily, I'm with Jaimie on this one. As much as I don't want to take anything away from the US kids who were lights out for the full 60, our boys just never really looked like their hearts were in it. I think it's the big downside of winning the pool and resting that extra day. They lose momentum and, as a team, have yet to face elimination and be forced to dial in that extra gear. Our guys played great in the round robin but were outplayed at every position in that semi. Too bad but kudos to the US and Swedes. That's gonna be a great tilt as will Russia Canada with lots of pride on the line for both sides. Not quite as committed to going out n' buying a new tv in the next 24 hours now though

Oh, 100%. I wasn't really clear on that, I was more trying to get across that they should try to win bronze because they want to, and not to please all those people who get pissed and have nothing but disdain for the team if they bring home anything less than gold

I enjoyed watching both games :) I do really feel for the Canadian boys, but they played well for most of the tournament. It was nice to see the crowd erupt when Russia won, you could tell it really meant a lot to them. And of course, congrats to the American boys
