6 months technically, but I only had enough money to stay for 2 months and still have some cash to get on my feet in Seattle.

WHY the EFF(!!!) is 70 K not announcing bands??? Seriously? Do any people have friends in touring bands ?!?! How far in EFFING advance do they schedule a show? HUH???

shit people.... come on. I know youre probably freaking out about BTH... right?? BUT, with all the AWESOME effing bands on that cruise, and you STILL havent sold any more tickets.... *head desk* * mumble, mutter...(etc).I would LOOOOVE to be on that cruise just because of the line up alone!!!! And now im reading that MAYHEM is going to play?!?!? REALLY!?!??!?! LOL. If its not selling now, what makes anyone thing its going to sell????

Im super excited about my trip, but really starting to get pissed over the fact that dude isnt announcing more bands....

Dont get me wrong, I cant wait to go on 70k. Its going to be one of those memories i will never forget. PLus I get to spend it with FAMILY.... The best memories will come from that...
and karaoke... of course.

oh... and i think "dude" is holding off on announcing more bands for 70k, and taking down the page that shows you how much is sold out (on the 70k page), because , unfortunately, BTH isnt selling. I think almost every band listed to play i would LOOOOOOOVE to see. seriously... I just wnat to know whos on 70 cause thats the one im on and i know how the booking works...

It's his "marketing strategy" he calls it. I don't know much about concert promotion but even then not announcing bands sounds like an odd strategy to me. And it clearly seems to work really well considering BTH has barely sold

What I don't like is that they announce bands up to the last fucking minute. This year I was always going regardless of line-up, because I just wanted the experience, but now i've "been there, done that" the line-up is more important to me now. So i'm waiting, to see if the ONE band I really want to see get's announced. I'd be so fucking pissed if they were announced a few days before the cruise, after it's sold out, and when it's too late to get flights and get to Miami and whatnot.

If you're going to announce a band that close to departure, at least make it a band no one gives a shit about... like Blackguard.

Doesn't bother me as much as it used to. Being on two cruises now, I've come to terms with this is how UMC operates. I can understand the reason for spreading out the announcements rather than doing them all at once as a fresh band announcement keeps the cruise constantly in the media and marketing circles and in people's minds. If everything is announced at once, they may get a huge chunk of sales right at the outset but then the cruise falls to the back of people's minds. Periodically announcing bands keeps beating the idea of going to the cruise in the heads of those that haven't yet booked. I do wish that the final announcements would be much earlier, though, for people like Conrad who are hoping for one specific band and those that need to make plans for the trip to happen far in advance.

But you do have to understand that there are SO many factors into booking these bands, that some of the time between announcements is all this work to just get bands in the first place. Just to book one single band from outside the US, there are payment negotiations, travel arrangements, merch arrangements, visas (depending on where you're from, a visa could take a few months to get), hotel arrangements before/after the cruise, etc. THe promoter (UMC) will have varying levels of responsibility in making these arrangements depending on the band. So...multiply all that work to book ONE band times 42. And I know when I worked with folk/classical artists, promoters can't announce the show to the public until AFTER a contract has been signed and all of those kinks have been ironed out. Once the promoter/venue has the OK from the artist to make an announcement, THEN they can start thinking about when to announce based on their marketing plan.

So yes, it sucks that we don't know what's going on, but I seriously doubt that Andy & Crew are just sitting in their offices twiddling their thumbs, sitting on 42 band announcements and watching us cry. They're working their asses off to make this whole festival come together, and they want to make sure they have all their bases covered before they promise a band to the cruisers.

That's definitely an awesome thing. They've had two. Stratovarius the first cruise and Pentagram the second. It could be that they prefer to delay the announcements until they get a "sure thing" from the bands they book, visas, accommodations, travel, etc. Looks better to roll out the bands slowly than it looks to have a bunch cancel.

Yup. I used yogurt, I used milk and I tried using alcohol. None of it worked aside from a brief break. I just went to bed with a bowl of ice by my side and numbed my hand. Worked out.

You are absolutely correct!! I think if they let me rent a broom closet in the engine room I'd be happy. I just slept on the deck or in other cabins or sometimes in a bar chair and once even a hall way. But just knowing I *could* afford it would be nice!
