The wind advisory said the gusts are going up to 50. Felt like it! I love tasting dirt in my mouth  The weather during the day was decent enough, but this is harsh. Glad we didn't have any plans tonight. Hopefully we can see stuff tomorrow morning! And hopefully this hotel's internet speeds up

I hate wind so much!

Monument Valley was a bit of a disappointment :(. The big rocks are really cool but the rocky dirt road is so bad that it makes it hard to enjoy whole driving in a compact car. The weather didn't help, either

Yeah, if they would have just indicated that one needs a truck or SUV to properly navigate it instead of insisting that any car can make it that would've been nice to know. :bitch: Fuck, they really don't run that park well. I think it's time the white man came in and stole that land from the injuns so some proper park management can take place. We're pretty good at doing that :D

Oh, and somebody tell the Navajo that one can drive at least up to the speed limit on the reservation. Fucking slow ass cars. It's a good thing they're nice people!

You forgot to mention how they constantly stressed to us that Antelope Canyon was on MST year round(AZ doesn't do daylight savings, so half the time we're on MST and the other half on Pacific time) and it even said on their website , but when we go there an hour early, making it 8 am MST, they weren't open. When we called to ask they said that it wasn't time yet. So they actually were on Pacific time

The state doesn't have a whole lot of jurisdiction in the tribal lands. Most of the area we've been in is part of Navajo Nation. Navajo Nation is supposedly on Mountain Time year round, unlike the State of Arizona.

Not that I'm writing off the extreme amounts of batshit insanity within this state's borders though.

At least in the areas around Page. Maybe if we went into the bustling town of Kaibeto they would've been on Mountain Time. The whole damn thing wouldn't be so confusing if Arizona didn't have to be special and not follow Daylight Saving Time  Of course, the Navajos could just follow what the state does within state borders, and follow the other states' times where the reservation is in those borders. Of course, then we get all kinds of confused with Monument Valley's roadway entrance being in Utah but the actual roadway being in Arizona

AZ does not do daylight savings time. It is do to the fact they are a desert and do not want one added hour of daylight to add heat to an already hot area during the summer. No shit. It is the same type of line that midwesterners give for having day light saving time for allowing more time in the fields. It was a Nixon thing and we are still paying for it.
Also, all tribal land within the US is dealt with by the Federal Government. Long story, long laws, and most people will not understand or care.

Navajo Nation is semi-autonomous whose laws are subject to review/approval by the US Department of the Interior. Daylight Saving Time is bullshit to begin with. Changing the clocks doesn't change the amount of sunlight during the day, btw. ;) I believe the idea was about conserving energy as well, though the results may be disputed.

I heard it had something to do with farming and when farmers get up in the morning? I don't know. It's pretty irrelevant these days anyway.
