I took a taxi home last night. For the whole drive, the driver was listening to Miachael Savage. I'd never heard him before, but I can't believe people listen to him. He's a serious conspiracy theorist and one of those guys who seems to see the world as some black and white comic book. It didn't help that he used the word "Academics" like it was a dirty word. What bothered me the most was how he acted in the talk sections of the program. He didn't discuss anything. He just bullied everyone who disagreed with him, interrupting them before they could say anything and assuming he won by default since the other person couldn't even speak. Essentially, he was everything that I feel is wrong with politics. I was too angry to fall asleep last night.

Nah, my first was NPR. Far more civil than the trash I heard last night. In NPR, is usually the host that gets bullied if there's any bullying at all. Also, no guys saying, "The end of the world is coming. Quick! Buy all of the gold that you can."

Yeah. Thanks for the link to the Pragmatism group by the way. My friend, JJ, also had something called "Fact Checker" or something like that. It is supposedly dedicated to researching, locating and pointing out all the BS any politician states publicly. It had actually been a dream of mine to create something like that. A sort of political Batman that makes politicians afraid to tell lies on TV.

Most of the time that I feel irritated we have no information, I try and remember about how difficult it must be to orchestrate everything... and I actively defend UMC, I give them the benefit of the doubt, and I scold others who are constantly bitching about this. Today is not one of those days. I just booked the time off work, paid for my flights, etc. I'm trying to find somewhere to stay in Miami. I want to know where all my money is going. As a loyal customer who is constantly billing this festival as "the best thing ever", I just want to see some news, some word that everything is fine (even though I'm sure it must be, we are yet to be disappointed). It's a dead zone around here. No one is coming here to post or chat... hell I'm not even talking about the cruise to my friends anymore because there's nothing to report. I guess I'm just feeling a little deflated about it... I want my 70K tons of boner back.

I'm getting fed up with these deferred action clinics. The one on Tuesday kept me at work until 9:00, when I had to be in bed by 10:00 for a doctor's appointment the next day, and now I just found out I have to be at another one in East Boston, which I've never driven to before, at 8:00 AM on at Saturday. No way! I am not waking up at 7:30 on a Saturday morning!

I booked my flights too, same days as you did. Still looking for places to stay too, we might have to suck it up and stay somewhere a bit pricier as I draw the line at a crack den.

Did you guys check with South Beach hostel to see if there is any space left there?
A lot of metalheads stayed there this year so it was a good place to be and the beach party was only literally down the road from there.

When I say "I only want the minimum legal auto insurance coverage," that's kind of what I expect to get. That sucks. My cousin is a captain in the military, and when she flew to Costa Rica last year for something NOT military related, she was held by Customs there for 24 hours, and nobody knew what was going on because they wouldn't let her contact anyone.

Although I agree with some of Slaytanic Erik's points he made on a recent post on the Bridge forum, I agree perhaps more with your sentiments above, Jake. Sorry, all, for joining in on the naysaying, and perhaps me doing so is totally inappropriate considering I'm not going on 70K or Barge (although I made that decision a few months ago prior to the long dead, dry spell).

Anyways, my feelings about UMC are a bit deflated to say the least....and my metal travel focus has strongly changed course to getting back to Europe sometime in the next few years - either for the Wacken cruise (regardless of line-up) or some other on-land fest.

On a positive note, Jake - your new Viathyn album cover is beautiful!! Really love the artwork!

Though I was certainly just going through an 'enthusiasm low-point' at the point that I posted, my sentiments are still similar. I just really want that feeling of excitement, and my excitement for the bands that have been announced is high, but I've seen many of them before. Ah well, only thing I can do is wait. One thing I will never do is accuse the organizers of being incompetent or insult them, because they have so far delivered an amazing experience twice.
