Messi getting the golden boot was a joke, boy is he a moody little brat at the best of times...

    Well deserved for Germany.

Golden boot was split between Muller and James Rodríguez (who played two games less than Muller, btw). Messi got the golden ball for the best player. I agree. He had more successful take-ons than any other player in the world cup, and more determinant plays. Basically, without him, Argentina wouldn't have made it out of the group stage... I do think that James Rodríguez was a better player, but I imagine the choice was between German and Argentinian players...

That being said, Germany was definitely the best team of the world cup.

Congrats to Germany! The best team most definitely won.

Hector, now you can use your time for something else, like going to The Bridge and read the "Any Spanish bands?" thread.

Should have been a red with no PK I thought. Looked like the hold ended just outside the box.

Yeap, outside the box. Welcome, Brazil, to the "We hate it when Robben dives" club.

That wasn't a dive, that was an actual foul and the ref should have given red card to Thiago and a free kick to Holland. Also, the second goal was "illegal" as well. The winger who sent the ball into the box was offside. Also, when Holland started the action for third goal, they got ball in their possession with a foul. Talk about karma for Brasil. Well deserved humiliation.

Won the world cup contest at work :bangers:
No prize except honor and glory, though.
Didn't take the lead until after the semi finals, but having both first and second place correct paid off.

Any time Robben falls it's a dive. :P

Regarding Messi's golden ball (hehe), this makes a good case: http://www1.skysports.com/FIFA-World-Cup-2014/news/15241/9381511/world-cup-final-was-lionel-messi-really-a-disappointment-in-brazil-or-have-we-just-become-numb-to-his-genius

So it’s worth remembering that Messi was statistically superb at this World Cup. An Adidas award is one thing but the WhoScored rankings which he topped are no popularity contest, they merely reflect the fact that this is a player who does more of the difficult stuff than anyone else.

Messi created more chances than anybody at the 2014 World Cup and only Andrea Pirlo played as many through-balls. He gave us more – a lot more – completed dribbles than any other player with his tally of 46 taking him well clear of Robben’s 29.
