tv series > movies

I rarely go the the theatres anymore, and I don't even care that much to watch movies at home
but I do watch a loooot of tv shows - there are just so many great shows around and I love to sit back and watch an episode or two before I go to sleep
right now, I'm going threw all Monk seasons and I'm in the middle of How I Met Your Mother, too

my first line above wasn't meant too seriously, but with tv shows like Breaking Bad, I can easily do without movies (or at least most of'em)

...but I do intend to watch The Muppets

Saw that over the weekend. Very vanilla and kid oriented but it was also a great hit of nostalgia and had me laughing quite a few times.

Love Exposure
A 4 hour long epic Love story from Japan... and it's definitely weird!
The story follows Yu Honda, a young teenage Catholic attempting to live his life in a faithful and orderly manner. His father, Tetsu, has become a devout Catholic priest following the death of Yu's mother, and operates his own church. Yu's father asks Yu to confess his sins, but Yu believes he is a good person, who has little to confess. At first he makes up sins, but his father sees right through him, and Yu sets out to commit real sins. Because of this, he falls in with a questionable crowd.
Yu is taught by his new friends to steal, fight, and take stealth photographs up women's skirts. Yu promptly becomes a skilled "panty shot" photographer. He is perceived as a pervert, but he is never aroused by these photographs.
After Yu loses a bet with his friends, he agrees to go into the city dressed as a woman and kiss a girl he likes. When they go into the city, Yu and his friends come across a young teenage girl named Yoko, who is surrounded by a group of thugs. Yu, still dressed as a woman, then helps Yoko beat up the gang of thugs. Afterwards he kisses Yoko and runs away. He falls in love with her - the first time he's been in love with a girl - but Yoko falls for his disguise and develops feelings for his alter ego Sasori, or "Miss Scorpion".
Meanwhile, Yu is being followed by Aya Koike, a member of the cult "Zero Church", who has become infatuated with him after she catches him taking a picture of her panties. Aya, who we are shown was sexually abused to the point that she became psychotic and set out on a series of violence sprees, including shooting every student in her class and cutting her father's penis off, devises a plan to bring Yu's entire family into the Zero Church, planning to gain the favour of Yoko by masquerading as Sasori.

Nick and I watched a japanese film, Sonatine, last night - it's pretty wild, about yakuza turf wars...but also very weird, games at the beach juxtaposed with murder.

Saw Carnage a few nights ago. Nice to see some people are brave enough to make a completely dialogue driven film in this day and age. I quite enjoyed it.

just watched Barney's Version http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1423894/
didn't know about this movie until a saw it in the store this week - and I bought it because Paul Giamatti was in it
great movie, very well done - and Paul Giamatti's performance was amazing...actually, most acting in this movie was great!

First season was great. Gave up on the second season but went back recently and watched it all. Was still a huge dropoff from season 1. Season 2 I guess is technically still going on but I don't think any new episodes will be released until February or March.

The first half of the second season was a disappointment compared to the first season. I just hope the pace picks up when it comes back on in February.

I think the second season is where I started getting into the Walking Dead comics so I don't think there will be many unexpected twists waiting for me during it.

Mate I haven't seen the second season, but judging by the first, the plot lines of the comic and the show are wildly different.

I was actually really looking forward to the second season (won't watch it until it's finished), it's disappointing to hear there's a dip in quality. :|

I didn't have much of an issue with season 2. However, I know nothing about the comics, etc. First half of season 2 did end with a fairly obvious "OH SHIT!" moment for many.

Mate I haven't seen the second season, but judging by the first, the plot lines of the comic and the show are wildly different.

I was actually really looking forward to the second season (won't watch it until it's finished), it's disappointing to hear there's a dip in quality. :|

A lot of it is related to changes in the creative team of the show and a tighter budget. Quite noticeable at times

It gets a LOT better. Have been collecting the comics for quite a few years now and the story doesn't really take off into what it is and becomes that's so enchanting about it in comparison to other zombie movies/books until they hit the prison. Which they should be at in the next season starting February. Its going to get good folks, don't miss it.

As for the changing storyline, there are few things that are pretty damn different from the comic books but at the end of the day they stay true to the main arcs of the storyline and the direction they are going in is the same. Character development is right on schedule, especially with Andrea who is one of my favorite characters.

I know a little about Andrea because they talk about her development in Talking Dead, but I'm interested in seeing what they do with Daryl, since he's not in the comics.
Never take anything I say seriously.

He's not? Damn, he's probably my favorite. In my opinion, the best episode of the latest round was the one that showcased him.

I saw this move Bellflower.
I thought it was gonna be about a post apocalypse, but it's actually about a couple guys who are obsessed with Mad Max (particularly Road Warrior) and want to prepare for the post apocalypse by making a flame thrower, an amazing car inspired by Mad Max's car (one of the coolest cars I've seen in a movie in years!), and all that jazz.
Well, it's actually a love story, but not really, and definitely no chick flick. It's more about the vicious and destructive nature of the relationship ending. There's some insanity and violence, and all around intensity...
oh, and the movie was made for an unbelievable $17,000!!! You'd NEVER think it was so low budget while watching it
