have you had Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout? it's VERY nice.

also Obsidian Stout from Deschuttes.

I love oatmeal stouts. Hell, I made a batch that for some reason didnt carbonate AT ALL. I use it for cooking now

that works! porters and stouts are very awesome in chili, in beef stew, in homemade barbeque sauces, and as a base for mushrooms/onions to go on steaks and burgers.

Yup! It's yummy, though I prefer their Vanilla Porter. Can't recall if I've had the Obsidian Stout. Sounds familiar.

Hell yea. I did find out that a little bit of my oatmeal stout goes a LONG way in cooking  Forgot that I wanted a really heaving hitting oatmeal flavor. I made a stew with it once and it was extremely oatmeal flavored. Wasnt bad but my first bite was definitely shocking. Hell, the chipotle porter I ended up with a year ago went all into cooking stuffs. Didnt like the taste as a beer but it was awesome for brauts :beerbang:

The beers were pretty meh. Probably the least impressed I've been with a stout

the original Swedish beermeister, gnoff, is arriving in Denver in 10 days!

i have to worry about a gnoff-approved menu (pickiest eater ever?) but perhaps if he's drunk enough the whole time he won't care!

along with the lovely Nicky Poo, we will be attending North America's largest beer festival on OCt 11 and Oct 13...weee!

i'm doing a Denver stay-cation so we could just be drunk for 11 days straight as I was in Gothenburg in March.

this will also be the first time seeing gnoff since his LASIK surgery, so no more thick glasses for him (just beer glasses)!

Especially when you tried mixing it

I thought it was a pretty good mix.

We also had lunch at the Woodstock Inn Brewery. Was supposed to be breakfast but the jackasses stopped serving it too early  At least with lunch we could order some beers. The Autumn Ale was excellent. Brewed with apple and cinnamon. Yummy!

That actually does sound interesting.

I havent been drinking much beer at all lately. Outside of a couple of different homebrews ive been drinking more jameson and ginger ale cocktails than anything else lately.

Sunday we went to the Baron Brewing garage sale - they're leaving the beer business to pursue other things, including whisky distilling & mead. We picked up various things including a keg, a bunch of glassware, and a couple of cases of beer. Then we ended up sitting around with the guy and his wife, schmoozing away the rest of the afternoon while drinking some of the last Three Skulls IPA ever. It was a fantastic day.

Sunset Grill and Tap was so much fun last night. I tried many beers. Some very yummy, some not so much. I must return there next Boston trip.

Berkshire Brewing Company Coffeehaus Porter (I've had this one before and I love it)
Southern Tier Double Cream Stout (Wasn't very good)
Southern Tier Creme Brulee (Good but only in small doses)
Atwater Vanilla Java Porter (Pretty tasty)
Ass Kisser Pounder Smoked Porter (Good but not great)
Jack's Smoke and Dagger (Very good)
Haandbryggeriet Norwegian Wood (My favorite of the night. Loved this beer)

Of course, when we got back from the bar I remembered that they had Smuttynose Baltic Porter on the menu. :bitch: I really wanted to try that one.

Yeah, the Southern Tier Creme brulee has been way too vanilla for us the past couple of batches. We still love their mocha for dessert though.

so the maple bacon beer is good ? I still have to try it. I found some German Winter Ale at a discount grocery store here in my town on Saturday and bought 4 bottles of it.

Schnee- Bock Winterliches Auer Festbier --- from Schlossbraueri Au Hallertau- German Winter Ale !!!! 7.9% was only $1.99 for a 1 pint, 9 oz bottle.
