Obiutary are about as far removed from "Black Metal" as Frank Sinatra is. Obituary = the EPITOME of DEATH METAL.

John Tardy is probably one of the most normal untypical metal guys around. He just happens to have an incredible voice and be in one of the forefathers of death metal.

Since I only like a "smidgen" of black metal, my overall opinion is likely to offend black metal lovers.

My definition is: Death Metal = low deep vocals, thick crunchy guitar sounds and "meatiness" to the overall sound, with memorable rhythms and beats, quality musicians.

Black Metal = 15 yr old Norwegians who raided their Mom's makeup cabinet, bought a $25 guitar (no bass is needed in black metal), put the amp on volume 10 and throw your arm up and down as fast as you can hoping it makes some kind of discernable sound. It must be recorded on 4 track & if more than 20 people buy your stuff, you are banned from the community and branded as FALSE METAL. That being said, bands like Enslaved and such have expanded the genre and made it respectable as the years have gone on. But its infancy in the early 90's initially made the art form a complete joke.

I really enjoyed that post by Kevin. Basically death metal is the product of too much testosterone and black metal is creepy, angry norwegians that are obsessed with death and hating religion. Also black metal bands mean what they sing about.

Now back to cats. I love cats. Especially LASER CATS!!!

For seriously though, I don't have a cat.

Thank you. It was super hard for two or three days, but the more time that passes, the more I realize that it was his time to go. All the money & love in the world wouldn't have fixed him, so its better this way. I'm lucky to have known him, even if it was only for a few short years.

Same here. Worst thing is that my sister's cats seem to sense that I'm allergic to and don't like them and keep coming to my lap.

I've never liked cats, I'm more of a dog person. But as it is, I won't be getting a dog either.

I used to be pretty allergic to cats, but it seems to have gotten better over the years. I really like and respect cats for what they are and think it's too bad they're so horribly misunderstood from a physiological standpoint. They're definitely not the pet for me, though, I'm a dog person 110%. If there was a person on this planet I ever thought was less likely to get a cat than myself it's my ex, but he got a kitten in October. She's pretty cool, and was and is undeniably cute.
