As far as I know that's not really an option. It's more of a "use it or lose it" situation for those 5.5 days.

That happens here all the time...actually I think it's pretty standard that vacation time expires eventually. I highly doubt that anyone in the world has a job that lets them accrue unused vacation time indefinitely until they take like a year-long paid vacation

I do know a couple of people that were able to accrue a lot of vacation time over their careers and could take lots of time off. I don't think it's really done anymore.

My vacation time is 'Use it or Lose it' too. I think we can carry over some to the next year but have to submit written request and use the time within 6 months or something.

No 'paid out' options whatsoever :cry:

Ohhhh, I just realised that the only reason I would ever get vacation time paid out is if there's a discrepancy between the legal amount of vacation time your entitled to and what the union states I'm entitled to for any given anniversary. Government unions are wonderfully complicated.

As for the holiday pay thread/vacation, I only take 6 days off a year( thank you 70000tons!) and I work 6 days a week. I have been here for 11 years, so I get 3 weeks of paid vacation( they just pay me out in Jan--woo hoo spending money!)

Every year they say they're not going to pay out--- but you better not take a holiday!

On the flip side, with lieu days and over a dozen years, I'm now up to almost 8 weeks vacation per year. Unfortunately, even if there was a paid out option, my wage is so low that it wouldn't make it worth it. The free time is way more valuable. Thanks union

I had originally wanted the album out by now, but delays and such have forced us to move it back... I PROMISE it will be out before summer 2013. Also, considering it isn't your music style, it's a big motivation to get it out for people like you because of the support you've given over the last couple years! Anyways, as a bit of a recording update, Dave will finish the last drum parts tonight, and the first aspect of the album will be fully realized. I'm unbelievably proud of his drumming work on this new material, and if any sort of bigger recognition or comparison to industry greats were to happen to any of us, it will most certainly happen to Dave and his monstrous drum attack that he's put together on this stuff. I start recording late this week!!! (Time for later nights and sore fingers).

At some point I will definitely make my way out to Van. I've got a score to settle with your couch, no? :cheers:

As for vacation time, I get 15 paid vacation days a year, and I can carry 10 over from one year to another. My first year of work at this company (started in May, so got pro-rated vacation = 10 days) I didn't take any days off, so I carried all of them over to this year. This year I took 5 days off for 70K, and 7 days off for my Turkey trip (with long weekends factored in I got 16 days off), leaving ~3 days plus my 3 flex days, PLUS 10 vacation days from last year. If I can keep this up, I can always have a 10-day float carrying over to the next year in case I want to take a huge trip or go on tour or something!!

Haha well a dirty rocksucker just sounds like a more committed rock licker. I'd consider myself to have notes of rocklicker but definitely do not have enough knowledge of minerals to be a full on rocklicker.

Can only see about 4/5 of it on my phone and fully agree that it looks great but must say that the filigree (is that what it's called?) part of the logo sort of obscures and takes away from the wickedness of the tree and moon. Would prefer just the letters of ViarhyN or to have it sitting higher above the tree. My $0.02

Rob: I appreciate your criticism, as that is also my main beef with the piece. I bought the art from a talented guy in Portugal a few months ago, and had originally envisioned putting our logo smack-dab in the middle of the cover. As it turns out, that didn't look very good! We toyed with taking out the 'flourish' or whatever, but then decided to keep it in to retain the long-term integrity of our logo over the full-mesh with the art on one cover. We did a bit of moving-around and some colour editing, and though I agree that the moon and tree are a little obscured, this was the best layout for the overall 'harmony' of the cover as a whole (with the border and size limitations taken into account).
