I spoke to Johnny Osborn this morning and he broke the news to me. It's also on their facebook page

It's unexpected...it'll be cool though! He told me they'll be playing a bunch of Savatage :)

Cool ! Saw them for the first time a couple of months ago in Stockholm....liked them :beerhorns:

While I think this band is okay, I agree with those that find this anti-climactic. I too was expecting something quite a bit bigger for the end, like Halford or something. At this rate I'd rather have Jag Panzer over this. I mean come on, they weren't available? I'm sure they would've done this cruise in a second.

In retrospect, I don't think we should be surprised it's not a super-huge announcement.
They've been "sailing" around the world "picking up" bands along the way, makes sense they'd finish with a Florida band to bring their virtual round-trip to a close.

hang by the bar, grab a beer, listen to some good music...and the Savatage songs are a nice bonus (an awesome bonus, actually)

Uhhhhh..... I have to say this met the "unexpected" part of my expectations for the final band, but that's about it!

I have to plead guilty to being largely unfamiliar with the progressive metal end of all the many metal sub-genres, mostly because I find I don't like it. Even I don't understand why it doesn't appeal to me, as there's not much music in general I can really say I don't like. I even like the "proto-progressive-metal" bands, if that makes sense. I think I listen to prog metal and either wish it was "just" rock, or the metal aspects of it different. Anyway.....

I just took a listen to Circle II Circle on Myspace, and I, for one, have to say that didn't win me over. I respect the talent, but it's not my thing. If I find myself at the sets, Last Candle's scenario about hanging by the bar perhaps bobbing my head or tapping my foot sounds about like how I'll be participating. Unless it's this song:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8cWtW_y ... 5&index=47

I'm sorry, that's AWFUL! Is it just me or is it reminiscent of some version of GNR's "Live or Let Die" gone wrong?

They announced 50 promotional cabins last week. There are also the F ocean views cabins that covers 4 decks. Maybe they missed a lot of money not selling out this, that's why the last bands were Voivod, Dusk Machine, Twilight Gods, Malevolent Creation and Circle II Circle. Good but cheap bands. Personally I like too much Circle II Circle

To me, Circle II Circle always seemed more like a Matchbox 20 kind of band than "metal".

I personally haven't listened to much Savatage and less CIIC, but I really go to the cruise for 15 or 20 of the listed bands, so I'll just made my schedule when they publish the running order, try to go to most of the gigs and enjoy every moment.

I guess you can't please everyone. I was definitely expecting someone else. But...just because I'm unfamiliar with them, doesn't mean I'm let down. I'm gunna check them out before I start pouting.

...Then again, I can't really complain. Even if I'm not into them, I'M SEEING A METRIC SHIT-TON OF BANDS THAT I LOVE ON A CRUISE TO MEXICO IN TWO WEEKS. What even.

They at least have a heavy sound to them, not bad, but doesn't get me all wet and giggly. I couldn't imagine Savatage songs unless Olivia was singing though (I'm no Savatage guru by any means either).

Amandroid, bring your violin. You junk, Slay and I will all sing MDB songs to each other.

Maybe in 2012 we'll all travel to Europe to see them play finally
    WISHLIST

    The Sultan of Stroopwafels
    The Viceroy of Vegemite
    Loather of Power Metal

Mark my words, if I ever win the lottery, I will fly out to Sweden and make it worth Mr. Swano's while to put a super band together and get him to play Crimson in it's entirety
