Welcome!!! :headbanger: Incidentally, I have a random question for you, since you're from Ft. Worth :D I will be flying into Dallas/Ft Worth for a conference in November, and I would like to fly Southwest but they only fly to Dallas Love Field. Is it a pain in the ass to get from Love Field to Ft. Worth compared to flying in to the DFW airport? I'll be taking a cab either way, but I'd prefer not to pay American Airlines lame-ass baggage fees!

    Thank you for the welcome!!

Well, Dallas Love Field is a bit farther of a drive to Ft. Worth than DWF Airport but it's no more of a pain in the ass. Love Field is much smaller and might be easier to get around. It's not a bad airport either. If it were me, I'd go with Southwest just because their prices are cheaper...however, depending on the situation I will sometimes I tend to pay a little more for direct flights just because I hate layovers. Your cab fare might be a little more expensive since you will have to travel a bit farther.

I sure hope that helps. :D

Yes your info did help! I think I'm just gonna fly into DFW and pay the baggage fee for a shorter cab ride. Company will reimburse me anyway, so might as well fly into the closest airport

What first got you into metal?
Growing up, my stepdad was a guitarist and lead singer for a rock band who covered things like Guns-n-Roses, Metallica, Zepplin, and other such bands. This raised me to love 80's rock and hair metal, but as I got older I expanded my views and when I discovered countries like Finland created epic metal, I was captured.

    Play any instruments?
Primarily I play guitar. Have two Ibanez RG guitars (2000 RG-570 and 2006 RGT6EXFX). I also have tried my hands at Drums (live in an apartment so can't set my kit up to really learn) and have played the Violin and keyboard at times as well.

    Top 5 bands?
This is hard, I love too many. I guess:
    Turisas
Powerglove (indie VG metal band out of Boston)
    Metallica
    3 Inches of Blood
Guns-n-Roses (old stuff, not the new album)

    What do you do?
Currently I'm a software engineer at Electronic Arts. Prior to that I was a game designer for Nintendo DS titles.

    What deck are you on?
none yet - looking for a bunk mate.

What's a creepy thing I can say when I see you that no stranger should know and will weird you out that I do?
This is even harder. Nothing really creeps me out. You could walk up and say "I bet your blood tastes great" and I would just roll with it.

    CITY/STATE/COUNTRY
    Lakeland, Florida, USA

    AGE
39 now but 40 by cruise time

WHAT FIRST GOT YOU INTO METAL
I'd stay up late some Saturday nights and watch Wolfman Jack's "The Midnight Special" with my mom and get to see some great performances (most of which I barely remember since I was 5 at most). That stuck in my head somewhere and I always liked a lot of harder music afterward. One of the big things that pushed me into this hard rock & metal camp, believe it or not and mock me if you must, was ... The Power Station. (Yeah, one of the two side projects from a couple of guys from Duran Duran. Go ahead, mock and ridicule me, I know you want to!) Iron Maiden followed soon after that, then Metallica and onward from there.

    PLAY ANY INSTRUMENTS?
I started playing keyboards when I was in middle school. I did time in Chorus when I was in high school and sang in a (thankfully) short-lived band in my junior year. I took private music theory lessons while I was in college. But, I have been a "recovering musician" for over a decade.

    TOP FIVE BANDS (METAL)
    Iron Maiden
    Megadeth
    Danzig
    Savatage
    Dio-era Black Sabbath

    TOP FIVE BANDS (NON-METAL)
This is much harder to narrow down since I have extremely wide musical tastes but here it goes.
    Duran Duran (original lineup please!)
    Allman Brothers Band
    Tori Amos
    Mike Stern
    Emerson, Lake and Palmer
    Deep Purple
    Rainbow
    Whitesnake
(Okay, so that was eight. Sue me.)

    WHAT DO YOU DO?
I slog it out on the front lines of the independent specialty retail wars! For the past twelve years, I have been the gaming product buyer for a twenty-three year-old local comic book & game store. I also help run two gaming clubs in the Central Florida area, one focused on role playing games and the other focused on historical miniature war games. (That may earn some mocking too but I'm used to it after all these years.)

    WHAT DECK ARE YOU ON?
    Deck 4

    WHAT CREEPY THING ... ?
Well hell, I've already said that I like Duran Duran and play role playing games so what else could I say that is potentially shaming? Hmm ... I'd go to jail for Miley Cyrus. And, a few years ago, would have done the same for Avril Lavigne.

What first got me into metal:
Can't remember that far back, but I would say the old Motley Crue/Guns 'N' Roses days, listening to Z93-The Rock Station out of Saginaw, MI for most my life, and watching Headbanger's Ball at a young age when they played videos like Metallica-One and Sepultura-Territory. Also when I was about 13 and Vulgar Display of Power came out and my buddy and I would mosh to that in the basement of his house.

    Play any instruments?:
Unfortunately no, just air guitar. :beerwink:

    Top 5 Bands (Metal):
    Slayer
    Opeth
    Cannibal Corpse
    My Dying Bride
    Rotting Christ
    Hypocrisy, Rammstein, Immortal (Honorable mentions)

    Top 5 Bands (Non-metal)

    The Doors
    Bob Marley

    What do I do?
Work front desk at a hotel.

    What deck am I on?
    3

    What creepy thing...?
You guys don't even want to know my creeper status, it'll creep you all out. Let's just say I'm good with computers, and I know where you all sleep. just kidding.
