Well I sometimes do the occasinal split ( or quite often ) when in a good headbangin´mood
) So, you are from stunning Stockholm! A friend and I flew there after Wacken in 2009. Neither of us had ever been there before and thought it would be a cool place to hang out after the festival. We were there five days and did lots of sightseeing, museum going, eating/drinking, and enjoying the ambience of the city. We absolutely loved it there!!!! The weather was perfect, people were so friendly, and there were so many great places to visit, etc. What struck us in particular was how CLEAN the city is, how beautifully designed everything is from shops to restaurants, etc. (there's the famous "Scandinavian design" for you, I guess ), and that during our entire stay there we saw only a few homeless/begger types. I live in Chicago and one can hardly walk in the downtown area (and many other areas) a block without spotting someone begging for money, sitting/laying on the sidewalk, or generally acting crazy. It's a very sad situation and not uncommon in certain US cities. I don't mean to start a big discussion about the differences in our societies/governments, etc. - just thought I'd mention it because it was something we really noticed.....oh, enough on that ... Cool you have a Rock Cafe there! The only metal bar/club we went to was one on the edge of Gamla Stan (can't remember the name right now). he rock place you mentioned must have been Medusa or Debaser Slussen ? The best place to go though is Pub Anchor with live bands almost every day of the week
I also went to Wacken in 2009 ( first time ) and was blown away ! Amon Amarth was amazing, seen them many times before, but that gig was AWESOME !!! Did you go to the partytent W.E.T stage on the 1st night when Grand Magus where playing ? To everyones surprise, Amon Amarth, Hammerfall and InFlames came up on stage too...what a party that was !! Love Wacken and went last year too
I´m so exited about this trip and wish I could get on the plane tonight and be ready to set sail on Monday !!
It´ll be so much fun to meet everyone from all over the world and have a good full-on METALPARTY !!!
Hope to find you on the ship somewhere and have a toast for Stockholm

) Cool you went to Wacken 2009 as well - I missed the 2009 Grand Magus performance you mentioned - so cool that AA, etc. came on stage! 2009 was also my first time, and loved it so much, that upon returning I immediately made plans to go to Wacken 2010. For that trip (travelled on my own that time), I combined Wacken with a pre-trip to Oslo, Norway - another city I had never been to and really wanted to visit. I don't think Oslo is nearly as beautiful as Stockholm, but I visited so many wonderful sites and museums (too many to list here - but a few of the highlights were the Viking Ship Museum and Fram Polar Ship Museum.) An added bonus was that one of my favorite Norwegian bands, Ulver, happened to be playing (at the Opera House no less!) while I was there. Between Oslo and Wacken - it was quite a dream trip for me! On another note, I see you are a W.A.S.P. fan - even though I don't know them much, I did see most of the Wacken gig and thought they were great! I need to check them out more - will wait till after the cruise though since I'm still trying to familarize myself with some of the cruise bands I don't know much! And I leave for Miami 2 weeks from tomorrow! We'll definitely have to have a toast to Stockholm (and of course all those great Swedish metal bands!

Yeah I´ve liked W.A.S.P. for a long time, and I have been lucky to get to know Doug ( the guitarrist , he´s my friend´s boyfriend ) so whenever they´re in Europe I go to as many shows I can...to meet up with him and his girlfriend and to hear them play of course !

What first got you into metal?
I was 6 and at a Family BBQ on Labor Day weekend, 1971 at my uncle and aunt's house. I went to use the downstairs bathroom and I heard music playing and went around the corner. At the time my cousin who was 19 played in a hard rock cover band (Iron Butterfly, Zeppelin, CCR etc but didn't know about them at the time..LOL). Him and his friends were sitting around listening to War Pigs by Sabbath. It completely sucked me in ... he saw me standing there and asked me what I thought of it. Years later he told me I looked wide eyed and possessed hahaha...but he played it again and made me a reel tape pf the album the next week. Over the years he gave me t-shirts and albums. it never bothered my parents as they always felt I should be my own person. But at that moment a metal monster was born

I took piano in school and can play a mean opening to "Smoke on the Water" which I learned in middle school guitar class but otherwise ... No.
