What first got you into metal?
I was 15 and very rebellious; looking for freedom and rock was forbidden in communistic Poland. It was almost impossible to get any albums and there were no live rock gigs whatsoever. Father of my friend was a diplomat and he was smuggling LPs to Poland. My friend recorded them on a cassette recorder and with group of friends we were listening to them at the cementary close to school. I started with Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Van Halen ……… I immigrated to Holland in 1984 and started to go to live shows. My ex-husband hated metal, so for many years I could not freely join my “metal family”.

No. I tried guitar but gave up after one year and I was singing in a rock band when I was a teenager.

My son is coming with me to Barge and was with me on 70k in January. I took him first time to Pinkpop & Graspop when he was 9 years old We still go often to the same shows just not together . I don’t do festivals anymore since I kind of like comfort of a real bed. And yes I headbang & you can find me in the mosh, and yes I scream

Unfortunetly not..There was ZZ-Top playing same time at Helsinki,This was first time I missed Turisas when they play at Hameenlinna.

Guess I'm joining the forums a couple of years late. But better late than never! :roll:

My name is Marie. I live in the Washington, DC area (in northern VA, to be exact). My biggest claim to fame is I used to manage Jaxx Nightclub before it was sold to a bunch of screamcore listening kids who decided to fire the entire staff. I've also toured with bands doing merch and some light TM work. By day I'm a non-assuming run of the mill legal assistant. The rest of the time I'm usually hanging out with my boyfriend and/or my daughter. Metal is my way of life, even if you might not realize it upon first seeing me.

I've been on the cruises since the first 70K. I plan on going to all cruises that UM puts together for as long as they last. With how much I work at least now I know I have a guaranteed vacation every year! I listen to all types of metal and find it hard to list any particular band as a favorite. I'm fortunate enough to have many friends in the music industry (both as crew, bands, and consumers) and it always amazes me how we all come together to help each other out when necessary. Thanks guys! I stayed away from the forums because I used to mod a band's fan forum and OMG that was awful. Trolls galore. But the forums were recommended to me, so here I am! I'll stick to lurking for a bit, see what's up, and then start posting in topics I feel I can actually contribute to.

But I can't wait to get to know everyone then start putting faces to the screen names in December/January!

That was the coolest part about being part of the forums from the get go. First year you pick people apart and the second year you can spot them from a mile away. Well, you can spot kevinp's bald ass head from a mile away either way but still!
