5 nights/6 days. Up the band count to 50 and shorten the show schedule each day to give more time for social events (metal related, of course) and sleep. If this past cruise was any longer I would've collapsed.

I think 80 bands wouldn't leave much cabin space for the fans to stay, eh? Wouldn't want it to get too much bigger. The intimate environment was a huge plus for me.

This year was perfect. Any more bands would be too complex, to be honest. I didn't even get a chance to see all the bands I wanted to (missed Forbidden and Iced Earth both times because of conflict).

Plus, I don't know about you guys. . .but taking more than a week or so off of work or school isn't the most feasible thing ever (gotta account for travel time and pre-party/post-party). I would love the exact same format as this year.

It's definitely tempting to say "the more the better", but I think I'm with everyone else who wants one more day. The reality of more would be almost too much, and though I'm still living in a fantasy world and haven't returned to work, "real life" would make the expense and time off work of a 7 day cruise quite a committment. I'm also putting in a vote for more time, same amount of bands. The social experience was one that has actually thrown my current choice of location (read: in the middle of nowhere with a very small friend base and kind of a shitty music scene) into question. Turns out I really miss living in the bigger cities I have, with the scenes I've been a part of. *sniff*

In retrospect I think I should have actually foregone seeing some bands twice in favor of spending more time with you forum folks and others, but at the same time I can't imagine having done that, either! I obviously can't speak for them, but I'm tempted to think the cruise being a little less demanding on the band members would be a good thing. It really seemed like many of them were soaking up the social experience as much as we were, and getting to gigs and meet and greets and stuff must have been killer. From what I have gathered the compensation wasn't much and they were really there to be on vacation, too.

No matter what it is, how many days, however many bands, one thing's for certain: I AM IN!!! :headbanger:

I disagree, I rather fancied the Blue Moon Brewery "Belgian Wheat Ale" (5.4%) and even liked the Bass Ale (from UK) IPA.

Yes I hope its at least 5 nights/6 days at the very least. I am just praying to the metal gods that we do not get the email for a few weeks. I am going to use my tax refund to put down a large deposit and this time am going for a room that is 1,800 or more per person

Exactly my thinking, too. I could use a few week buffer myself, but even if we don't get that -- like this year -- I plan on being one of the first 5 people to book again

I think I have to retract what I said earlier. We should keep it at around 40 bands. Definitely add one more day. 10AM-4AM for shows is just way too much.

I'd be happy with whatever as long as we get first dibs. We stepped of the ship and are def. going next year. My boyfriend and I are kinda shy and really missed out on meeting people. I hope to talk to you all next year (at least meet up in So Cal)!

42 bands was enough and 4-5 nights is cool, try to keep the cost of the trip affordable especially for you out-of-towners who have to fly half way around the world just to get here

Voted for 5 nights/6 (full) days.
But the amount of bands should stay the same. Unfortunately there wasn't much time left in the schedule to eat, sleep, karaoke, etc. this year.

RONFUCKINGKONKOMA. Now that I got that out of the way...

I agree, I don't need any more bands or anymore people. This seemed to be the perfect amount, not too much, not too little. Everything (shows, karoake, dinner) had enough people to have fun at, but not enough that it caused any overcrowding problems.

I do want 1 or 2 more days on the ship as well, plus a little extra time to rest/sleep, which will also allow more time for socializing, etc.

But if the cost is too high for some of our international visitors, then I'd gladly "settle" for the exact same thing. I'd be very upset if some of my "peeps" couldn't make it the next time.

And the greedy whore in me would be tickled pink if I could get a few of my Top 10 Bands I want to see on it. :deathmetal: :deathmetal: :deathmetal:

I equate it to being pushed off a cliff in shopping cart, falling 600 feet into concrete, exploding and being set on fire and then waking up in a hospital still alive and remembering the entire ordeal and metal still imbedded into your ribs.

But that would have been a picnic instead of the emotional pain/withdrawal we had to endure

I think if they keep the same format and get a bigger boat for us next time, it'll work out way better.
I feel like we deserve (after proving ourselves on this one) something bigger, and now that people know it wasn't a scam, word of mouth shall spread the good news and I would say more people would want to come on this trip.

I respectful disagree. Bigger is not always better. I think it was the perfect size and scope. Not too many, not too few people. I didn't have to wait for anything, except for the doors to the Chorus Line Theater to open a few times.

Seems like most cruise ships all hold around the same general amount of people, unless you get one of the new "mega" ones.

But why dilute the experience when it was so awesome? I don't think more bands or more people would automatically equate to "more fun". Bigger usually means more $$$$. And anything that keeps the costs in line to keep our international brethren coming is good with me

Well, if they are keeping it on the Majesty then a longer cruise is out of the question. Cruise ships work on pretty set in stone schedules. The Majesty runs a Friday evening - Monday Morning Cruise then immediately turns around and does the Monday Evening to Friday Morning one (the schedule we had). I seriously doubt they would interrupt that schedule as it would throw them completely off schedule-wise and they would lose a couple days at sea which would cost them tens of thousands. So unless they change to a different ship that typically runs 7 day jaunts, then we will likely see the exact same schedule again.

    that is all

    I respectfully agree
(yeah, second time in about half a year, Kevin ;) )
let's not forget that one of the most important PROs was the seize of the event
you could easily go from A to B, bumped into the people you know again and again, the concerts weren't too crowded, it felt somewhat intimate a.s.o.

EDIT: thanks Craig for the info, that's fine by me

yes - 2000 people was just the right amount. I forgot who said this but i remember hearing "i've never seen so many drunk metalheads, and not one fight" i dont think that would be able to happen if more than 2000 people were on this boat. Small and intimate is the way to go.

i agree with kevinp ... bigger doesn't mean better. I didn't get to see everything I wanted this time so bigger means missing even more.
actually I think 30/40 bands, little longer sets, an extra day (or two) depending on number of bands ... couple special metal events. (What happened to our wet t-shirt contest?)
the sound could of been toned down a little, most bands sounded a little muddy for the space they were playing. (Don't get me wrong I love my music loud - but a cleaner sound would have made it more enjoyable) and I really couldn't get into the spectrum lounge set up in general, almost impossible to see the band unless you were right up front (not that you couldn't get there) it just didn't appeal to me. Missed a few bands because of this and merch. lines.

overall though if they even keep the same format, others will get a chance to go as many won't be able to afford to go every year they do this.

there was already some kind of "selection" by the quite high costs for this event - I'm pretty sure people just looking for a fight chose cheaper options...

Keep it exactly the same time frame and number of bands. I loved every minute of it!
After returning home a friend told me about "post-cruise depression". I think that that would happen no matter how long the trip was. Possibly even worse if it was longer.
And I love seeing bands early in the morning. 10am at the pool deck was a great start to the day.

I think 80 bands wouldn't leave much cabin space for the fans to stay, eh? Wouldn't want it to get too much bigger. The intimate environment was a huge plus for me.

I'd agree with this. The more the merrier usually, but I'd hate to lose the feeling of the "VIP" experience that we had... and I still missed a few acts with barely any sleep! I really liked the set up, too much more and more people would miss more... after passing out earlier than desired on the last day from complete exhaustion. Not that I did this, but my partner did... just couldn't help it after how many hours of absolutely no sleep. ;)

I also agree, so much more I would have loved to see and do - table hockey with Sabaton etc etc, missed a couple bands that I had been looking forward to, socializing a lot more with my fellow forumites - wouldn't want it bigger or smaller just more time.

Uh, hehe - Scott - I have a short video of you during Kung Fu Fighting and it's actually quite awesome! We were both out there dancing to that song and I whipped out my flip-video I got for Christmas and got some brief, yet epic footage of you  - nothing embarassing at all! But, don't worry - it's not gonna show up on youtube since I have no clue how to upload video. ;)

As for me - I believe Anika (ragnaroks_roller) was taking video of me going pretty nuts  on the dance floor during Baby Got Back by Sir Mix a Lot (Kevin/Bentz karaoke) - lol!! Anika - I'd actually like to see it for laughs - maybe via pm - not youtube!!
...well, and then there was the "finntrolling" (Margie's term  ) during the deck Finntroll set - woah....  :trashdrink:
