So I know it's 70000 tons of METAL, but any bands that are exceptions that you'd like to see? I would like:
    Anathema
Portishead (not even sure if they still exist).

I like a fair bit of stuff that isn't metal but not too many that could do the cruise without compromising what it's all about.

I think Uli Jon Roth was a great example of the type of artist that fits in this way. I think maybe Ritchie Blackmore is another similar artist that's sort of part of the metal family/lineage although his style is quite removed from what many now consider to be metal in many ways.

Some others that wouldn't ruin 70K for me all would be:

    - Blue Oyster Cult
    - Living Colour
    - Styx
    - Steve Vai
    - King's X
    - Faith No More
    - Many others bands in that not quite metal vein that I think might work but that's enough to give ya an idea of my take on this
So far at least, 2011, 2012 & 2015 were enough for me

The only non-metal band I still have in my iPod playlist is Coheed & Cambria. I don't know what it is about those guys, but I really, really enjoy them. And I hear they put on a great live show.

Still would rather not see them on broad though

    Portishead...really???What about Roni Size?
No way! Need to be at least "Heavy" in some way!

I like different styles of music, but exactly why we all chose to go on this cruise the first time, because it is 70,000 tons of METAL!

    +10000 to that!!

Saw them a couple of months back, when they were supporting Slash.

We left not even halfway through Slash's set though - we were only there for Coheed :headbanger:

They actually played Wacken the year I went (2009). I'd prefer no non metal bands since this is 70000 Tons of Metal and not 70000 Tons of Metal and other loosely associated genres of music.

That being said, if I had to choose, it would absolutely be Steel Panther!

Strongly agree with all of these and would add UFO (*looks at my sig wishlist* - had to make a nod to my "That 70's Show" past ;) )

This is when I think the genre/classification talk gets tiring because many so called classic rock/proto "metal" bands have played at WOA (case in point Alice Cooper in 2010) - billed as the world's largest heavy metal fest. Whatever you want to call these bands - all I know or care about - is that they've all put out some really GREAT music. :D

Second the Floggin Molly and Dropkick vote. Drinking with and to those guys playing would be a blast on the high seas!
