What kind of beer will be on the boat?

    by Metalwrath » Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:22 am

Was just wondering what the situation with the beer on the boat will be.
Will it be a case of just one company being contracted to serve the one type of beer on the boat or will we have many options at the bars.
Reason why i ask is because i've tried many American beers and they are usually quite weak in % and give you a headache even if you don't get drunk :?

Or maybe you guys could take suggestions on the forum and decide to see whats most popular?

as long as they have more than just the standard Budweiser, Miller, and Coors bullshit I think we'll be okay.
these cruises often cater to Europeans not to mentions the wealthy who might be a little pickier than some.

When I went on a cruise from Miami to Mexico in 2008, they had shit beer. Bud, Bud Light and Corona. So I drank hard stuff mostly. And when I got to Mexico it was MAS TEQUILA! 3 dollar shots of Don Julio Resposado. Kick ASS.

I love beer but will not drink pansy shit. I like ALE. Strong, dark ale. The higher the % the better.

From my experience it's much cheaper on boats than the airports as airports aren't exactly duty free. They changed that a few years ago.

hehe when I was on that Carnival cruise line cruise in 2008 they had a Captains hour on one of the days. One hour of free beer and cocktails. I had so much booze stashed under my lounge chair. Awesome.

It would be awesome if they had some Microbrews on board, like Stone, Dogfishhead, Rogue. But I highly doubt they will. I could get by off of Miller Lite. It's the only crap beer I can tolerate.

I'm sure I'll be drinking plenty of jack.

I would love to see the micro brews stocked for the cruise, lots of good beer in America on that end. I took a cruise to Cozumel a few years ago and the best I could get was Guinness, Miller Genuine Draft and Corona, Guinness being a little more expensive. At the very least I would like to have some Sam Adams at non premium prices.

For those who like, there are 2 nice beers in Mexico: Sol and Dos Equis.

Sol stands for "Sun" in Spanish, and Dos Equis for "Two X". Both are strongly recommended beers!!

Another, but quite difficult to find I think, from the same brewer is Bohemia. As far as I know it was first introduced in Brazil, then later on Mexico.

I'll particularly look for Tecate. This is on my drinking list while on Mexico.

You can get Heineken anywhere in the world. Guinness would be nice. Funnily enough, whenever I am in America I fancy Amstel Light. I am not sure why.

Respectfully, I disagree about Mexican beer. I think the best is Pacifico.

JD would go down nice but I prefer Canadian Rye. Something hopefully 100% .

Last year I went to Copenhagen with a friend from Canada.

On the way there our train got delayed several times so it was almost midnight once we finally arrived and we were starving.

We went to the Tivoli, the main square and there is a huge Carlsberg sign.

My friend, starving like a fucker, spots it and says, hey, let's go there, there is a steakhouse!

    I replied, where? I can't see it.

He goes: There it says: Carlsberg, the best beef in town!

You must be really fucking starving to read beef when it says beer...

Amen. Personally, coming from some one who spent most of his life in Mexixo. Only beers that are worth a damn are Bohemia, Noche Buena (seasonal) and Negra Modelo. Pacifico is a good light beer which fits in well with the fact that we are out at sea, so that would be good.

Otherwise. Please, please please have some American Micorbrews and I will be happy.

You have Bohemia in Mexico? Good to know, it's on my top 10 beers here in Brazil. The other I don't know, but will have it once we debark in Cozumel.

I heard they were also selling Brahma in USA. Do you know it?
    It's a great Pilsen.
