I don't know any songs called Laura
Well, thanks Ravenlord (Paul). I must say that I like both your names very much (real and screen) - in fact, if I had had a son, Paul was a top choice along with Max
. Interesting you connected my screen name with the Rainbow song. I don't think I know that song - maybe if I heard it? - I'll youtube it later. As I said, I picked the name over a year ago because of the band Tyr, and lol - it just got to bug me as being too narrow-focused.
Also, strangely
- when I'd see it on the screen and "hear" it in my head - I would often think of a word with the same pronunciation: tear as in
aaaaanyway.....at the risk of being waaay too TMI....I was named Laura after the 1944 film noir murder mystery classic
Laura http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_(1944_film) and its famous theme song by the same name
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2LxUKbejIs . The song was recorded by many different artists - but my mom especially loved the Frank Sinatra version from the 1950's which is definitely NOT
a metal song (but quite pretty I must say nevertheless
) My middle name is Gene like the star of the film Gene Tierney, although I was named that more because that was my grandfather's name as well.

None by metal artists though!
Laura...since I discovered earlier on a pm that we have the same name, I was wondering - is Laura an unusual name to have in Denmark? I've known relatively few here in the states. When I took German in high school - my German teacher gave me the name Hannelore - I guess she thought that was closest Germanic sounding equivalent.

that would be a bit much.
I think the subject of names and process of "naming" is really interesting! Among other things, it made me think of this....
Juliet:
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
Romeo:
[Aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
Juliet:
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.
Romeo:
I take thee at thy word:
Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;
Henceforth I never will be Romeo.
