Welcome Abroad to all the new cruisers!!!

    by Laura » Tue May 31, 2011 3:27 pm

Had to say it....and I thought a proper welcome deserved its own thread. I'm (we're) really excited for y'all! It really was an incredible time on the maiden voyage - believe us - we're NOT joking!

Thanks! Really, really looking forward to it. Even my wife, who isn't a huge metal head, is looking forward to it. I would have been a veteran this year if I had had enough money last year to go. My liver is in great working order so I'll be drinking the shit out of some beer and some vodka and some rum and.... well, just about anything I can get my hands on.

Welcome abroad all newbies! The first cruise was by far the best trip of my life and I'm sure many of you will say the same after the 2012 cruise.

I will make a better effort next year. I think I contributed one Chivas and Coke to the first day alcohol sales record.

NEXT YEAR... 10 PINA COLADAS IN THE FIRST NIGHT! (That is... If I don't drink as much as I did at the pre-party like I did this year)

^You do have salmiak in Denmark, don't you? I think Kevin is actually more into the sweeter salmiaks of the Dutch and Danes than the saltier Finnish ones.

The only food thing I know the Danes being famous for is smørrebrød, but bringing them on broad might be difficult.

Yes, lots of salmiak here too :) I guess I'll have to prepare a selection for Kevin :D

Bringing smørrebrød on broad would be impossible, but if they have rye bread on the boat, it shouldn't be hard to make. I guess Denmark is the only country with a "national" dish that doesn't require any cooking at all and that a 3 years old could make by himself without problems

I guess the only thing we could bring is the bread. We can't take fresh produce into the US as far as I know and btw ready made smørrebrød wouldn't be so nice to have in the suitcase  But apart from the bread all the other things can be found in most places. We'll teach Kevin to make his own smørrebrød

I had (with Amon Amarth) about 3 triples and 8 beers before departure. I did my part, planning on doing it again.
 <- me by 4 pm on departure day.

And you all remember seeing me at karaoke on the second last night, I haven't been that drunk since I don't think. Hot tubs fuck me up. I think someone almost punched me? :heavydrink:

:P  I think you are the first person to have referred to the 2011 voyage as the virgin cruise - I like it! :P
(even though it's been joked about at least once before on these forums that there were no virgins on that boat  :beerwink: ...cue Madonna's song Like a Virgin :headbanger:)

Depending upon your country of origin, a small tarrif will be due. Please see below for a breakdown. (This list is not all inclusive and will be updated accordingly)

    AUSTRALIA: Vegemite, Tim Tams
HOLLAND: Stroopwafels, Salmiak (including rondos), Hagelslag
    FINLAND: Salmiakki

You know, you can actually get Tim Tams in the US very easily. They even have them in the little convenience store in my building where I work and I'd say most grocery stores have them. I like the chocolate on chocolate.

We have to find a way to smuggle some Hornaviina onbroad. It has proven to be a good choice on festivals (like Tuska, hmm, '05 was it?).

To those not understanding what Hornaviina is, it's just vodka mixed with Sisu Horna salmiakki candy. Yummy!

Or, we take lots of Sisu Horna candies to Miami, and mix them with vodka for the pre-party so no-one will get up in time for the cruise. Wait, I see a flaw in that... We only give Hornaviina to guys so they'll miss the departure. Ah, there'll be just me, Maso and all the metal ladies on broad. :heavydrink:

Anyways welcome to all new people....we veterans are fatalists...its already determined that we are going on the cruise, so welcome all new ones :heavydrink:

I guess the only thing we could bring is the bread. We can't take fresh produce into the US as far as I know and btw ready made smørrebrød wouldn't be so nice to have in the suitcase  But apart from the bread all the other things can be found in most places. We'll teach Kevin to make his own smørrebrød

I haven't seen the new X-Men movie but I think (*spoiler alert*) they put Vegemite on Danish Rye bread in the final scene. Let's agree not to do that on open sea.
