We went to Everglades Alligator Farm in 2011 and Gator Park in 2012, and the first one was better. The airboat ride was pretty similar, and with all the safety regulations they (in all places I think) won't be going too fast (which of course ruins a lot of the fun). The alligator show was much better at the first place, so I'd go for that. Here's the link to their site: http://www.everglades.com/

Hey there,

Im just hittin up this board for the first time, trying to get on the Barge, and share some knowledge of my hometown.

When it comes to airboats and the Everglades, there are a bunch of places you can go, it just depends on how much you are in the mood to drive. Most "parks" have the same structure, you pay a fee to get in, and then roll with the schedule (airboat, alligator shows) and you can grub on the alligators too, cause most parks serve alligator bites. There are two regions you can go to. If you want to head south, the Everglades National park is a good spot to hit up, and you're close to Key Largo/Islamorada, and you get the whole two birds/one stone deal. You can also head north, taking 595 (which turns into alligator alley) and there's the Everglades Holiday Park, or if you really wanna get out there, the Billie Swamp Safari is out in the boonies, but they offer more attractions than the other parks.

Pretty Late reply, but if it is of any help, there are a ton of Argentine restaurants here, I would stick to the ones in North Beach (Manolos is a very popular one, check it out!) Theres a brazilian joint in north beach too, but if you want to check out this little spot called Boteco, you might like it. Its small, but they usually have live brazilian music on the weekends, and ladies drink free tuesday nights.
Theres alot of places for broads to shop, it just depends on what shes looking for, Aventura Mall, Dolphin Mall and Sawgrass Mills are three big malls in South Florida,
Metal shows are usually at The Culture Room, (google: culture room ft lauderdale) or Revolution (Revolution Ft Lauderdale) there is a punk/metal/jazz/everything bar in the not so pretty part of miami called Churchills pub, but I love that joint and its definitely one of a kind. No other place like it in Miami.

Ive seen a good few posts with a lot of good questions,
just got home from work, headed out for a beer soon, and wanted to say SUPER THUMBS UP on the Beer and Burger Joint thing. That's my favorite burger place in all of Miami. The beers are a plus. When i say this, Ive only been to the one in South Beach, Ive heard its better that the one in Brickell (downtown). The burgers are awesome, everyone Ive taken has left happy. In all honesty, The burgers are priced a little higher than your average burger place, the most simple burger they have (Thunder Road) runs about $12-14 if im not mistaken....but the food is banging! One of the few places in sobe that plays awesome music no matter what night it is. They've just expanded they're sports bar section to be bigger, and anyone who like to shoot pool and hit up the jukebox is more than welcome. On that note, off to get beer!

Yup, although there are only a handful of music shops left throughout Miami, It just depends on the amount of distance you want to travel.
If you're staying in the South Beach/Downtown Miami, you're safe bets are going to the big stores like Best Buy (there's one in south beach) or an FYE (in Bayside/Downtown....one of the very few left, many have closed down.) If you swing by Uncle Sam's (South Beach) its one of the few independent record stores that's been around since right before i was born. They might not have the biggest Rock/Metal section, but it definitely has the most eclectic feel to it. They sell a bunch of other random stuff, and overall if your in the south beach area, you might as well pop in and check it out.

As for jeans, there are a bunch of places. If this is any help, There is a store (H&M) that the closest one is alllll the way in West Palm Beach (about an hour away) but I know a bunch of people like it, and they are going to open one up in Aventura Mall (which is about 20 minutes away) and I know a bunch of chicks that dig forever 21, which they have in Aventura mall. But there are plenty of stores in South Beach (mostly boutique, and jeans can be kinda $$$) and some spots in downtown as well, but if your gonna do a mall day, scope out Aventura Mall (Aventura, FL) or Dolphin Mall (which is closer to the Miami Int Airport) If not, Lincoln Road In south beach has alot of stores (and places like Guess, American Apparel) and up and down Collins ave (She might like Urban Outfitters) and Washington ave you have other options.

Close one! Actually, it was named Treasure Island. Funny enough, they had to rename it to Platinum Plus because of the confusion between the strip club, and an Elementary school with the same name.

I'd recommend Scarlett's or Tootsies. Both are awesome. But I have a little hook up in Scarlett's, I can get in free anytime and bring up to 4 people to get in free too. If not, I can also set up a reservation, and get your whole group in half price, or free. Not too bad right?

First to the previous question about Beelzebub´s Cave. That place is nothing more than a hole in the wall practice space, masquerading as a venue. At best, you could get 30 people in there, band included. And it's in the middle of the ghetto. In other words, nothing to see here.

Now to the question about strip clubs (a subject that I'm eminently qualified to answer). The club nearest to downtown Miami is called Goldrush, and is merely a couple of blocks North of Grand Central (where the pre parties are held). Rectal's suggestions of Scarlett's and Tootsies are a considerable distance North, which would require having a car to reach. So if you're planning on having a rental car, then consider some of his suggestions.

As for a music store for anyone looking for Metal of any kind? The unfortunate truth is that there is basically nothing of the sort here anymore, with the exception of one store in Pompano called The Record Rack, which has a fair amount of Metal vinyls and CD's. Again, not remotely close to downtown Miami, so those with rental cars can keep this under consideration.

Lampropelma was wondering about any shows, which I assume will be while you're here for one of the cruises. The show to see before setting sail on the Barge will be this one: http://www.70000tons.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2750

The pre party before 70k will also be at the same venue on Sunday January 27th, so no worries.

It looks like there will also be some POST Barge activities as well, so stay tuned for that.

We are coming 19 of Jan to Miami and South Beach. Because We are Finnish, We are boozing that weekend and then touring Florida with car. We are driving through Everglades to ClearWater Beach,take a night there and go to Orlando 2 nights(watch out Cinderella and Terminator ) When We leave Orlando,We gonna save some lives at Baywatch beach (probably drinking ) and next day go to moon at KSC,hopefully We landed at Florida City to drink some beer before going to KeyWest.We take a nap there and 01.27 back to Miami and preparties,I'm glad that I'm not a driver.

Anyway,Can anyone help,is that trip places that We "must see" on that Grad Prix?

Found a pretty decent place called Kill Your Idol on Espanola Way last year to drink; they serve mead There was also a Japanese place that had free beer on Sundays and Mondays with a minimal food purchase, can't remember the name though....
