Almost 100% sure I'm going to take an overnight/red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale and get there the morning of the cruise around 6:00 AM. Hate to miss the pre-party, but I'm a total workaholic and I want to make sure I'm caught up on everything before I pass my stuff off to my colleagues for five days.

Is that cutting it too close? What is the absolute last time to broad the ship? If it's noon then I should have some leeway, right?

I've been eyeing a specific set of flights for 2 days now that are a really good deal. But I'm waiting on my bank to send me an activation code so I can clear my credit card so I can book them

Not so good a deal that I have to make a connection for every place I'm going, but at least it's much cheaper than I expected (if I can book soon)!

    Hopefully tomorrow...

Leave Minneapolis 7:00am on 1/20/12 arrive Miami by 11:00am.
Leave Miami 1:00pm on 1/30/12 arrive Minneapolis by 5:00pm.
Direct flights only, but I am sure that I will get bumped to a later flight because that is what happen last year and has gotten to be normal when I have flown out of Mpls.
At least I get flight vouchers to use for another trip.
Vouchers paid for this year’s flight.

I don't understand the overbooking bullshit that airlines do, forcing people to get bumped. It's so fucking stupid.

For real. How about you just make sure you're caught up with everything by that Saturday? You're leaving yourself with basically no room for error and you'll be wiped out for the whole first day. I'm doing the American Airlines 6:40am flight out of LAX on the 22nd. Get onbroad!

I would never book a flight to something like this cruise where I can't take at least a 24 hour delay and still make the trip.

Agreed. Would want to have some wiggle room. Especially for those flying in from cold weather areas where snow delays are the norm. Granted, Ecliptica doesn't have snow to worry about in LA

Yeah, the Britons can't apparently deal with snow. Helsinki airport hasn't been closed due to snow ever except for the winter of 2003, when there was such a snow storm they had to close it for half an hour.
The only plus side from traveling via LHR is that you won't get stuck at the immigration desk (if one has only like an hour between flights), you do that shit over in Miami.

If she's also bald and has a long beard and a viking helmet, I'm sure we'll find her.
Finding a decent bar though might prove to be difficult. What do the English know about pubs? :givebeer:

Haven't gotten flights yet, last years layovers blew, and still waiting for a sign of life from UMC before I fork over more cash. But might have to just buy the tickets to see Tattoo Frank and Deadly Bizarre and Thrash or Die at the pre cruise party.

If UMC cancels the cruise....when it comes to air lines....
